I'm having the same problem. After you record some automation, live 'averages' out your fine detail with a few lines. Its the same with most other automation, volume etc.

I presume you're talking about an audio track not a midi track?
If its a midi track, obviously just use pitch bend.
For an audio track, it looks like the transpose parameter has 96 steps and that's it, no finer control. If you go to the transpose envelope, you can't place a breakpoint in between the ...

How to switch off automation 'averaging'

I'm trying to record some detailed automation sweeps but live keeps 'averaging' my automation by replacing the many recorded breakpoints with a few lines. Is there some way to turn this off?

That's a good question. I can't manage it.
The only way I can see is to draw it in manually.
But then in arrangement mode, transpose doesn't show up in the list of parameters under the track name on the right. It only shows up when you double click on the clip and look at the clip view down below ...

I copied what you said exactly and it works fine for me in live 6.
Assign keys to the clips, hit record, it records exactly as played.
It must be a setting or something else interfering.

The fact that it works for you in a new blank project probably means there is something amiss with the original ...

This will give you a list of what controller numbers control what.
Then in live's clip view, go to envelopes. In the first box put 'midi ctrl' and in the second put the cc number you want.
