Fold button is broken for chain names in Live 10
Just noticed that Fold button is broken when Show Names in MIDI Editor option is enabled: https://i.imgur.com/UOPy2aS.png The way it works in Live 10 clearly differs from what help box says. When Fold is disabled, notes are folded any way and chain names are shown in piano roll. When Fold is enabled...

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge
When multiple controls are mapped to rack macros, they are displayed as 0-127 values, and plugin parameters are always mapped like that: https://i.imgur.com/kyTdcvm.png I always had problems with this because it isn't natural for human beings to think in 7-bit integers (hey, MIDI). This is how rack ...

Re: Crossover rack with a macro in Hz
Ended with the same trick as suggested here, viewtopic.php?f=1&t=230615 . Used VST linear EQ and used dummy EQ8 instance to provide labels for a macro in Hz. Fortunately, both EQ8 and VST parameter had logarithmic scale that matched.

Crossover rack with a macro in Hz
I'm trying to create 2-band crossover rack, map crossover frequency to rack macro and display a value in Hz. The problem is that none of Live built-in devices seem to be able to provide a decent crossover without phase issues. EQ8 is clean but isn't suited well and can't sum to flat. EQ3 is colored ...

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge
amazing tip! I use ozone insight for this exact little function but external audio will be way easier I enjoy it as well. The important thing I forgot to mention is that it introduces a delay. Not a big deal if you don't have latency problems but should be kept in mind. I usually drop it sporadical...

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge
There are peak level meters in session view, but they are limited to track output, and there's none in arrangement view. Rarely claimed External Audio device can be used to measure peak level anywhere within the chain. Set Dry/Wet to 0: https://i.imgur.com/6qNo7x1.png Note: Ableton peak level meters...

Equal gain crossfade rack
It looks that rack chain selector works as equal power crossfade.
Is it possible to make equal gain crossfade from a rack?

Re: Transform Gain boost into Gain attenuation in a rack
Wow, I was sure that this will propagate 0-127 everywhere, but it works. Feels more like a bug, but certainly a great feature. Glad it was that simple, thanks for your help.

Transform Gain boost into Gain attenuation in a rack
I want to negate Gain parameter. 11.3db boost has to be transformed into 11.3db attenuation, but parameter value should stay the same, +11.3db . 11.3 is random number that can be anything else. This is simple arithmetic operation. Usual rack tricks like phase inversion won't work because of math beh...

There are a bunch of VST utilities to do that. The one I can remember is GuruOne GOMP. Actually, there are many (browse http://www.midiplugins.com/ ), but beware of MIDI VSTs which have midi out and don't have audio out. Live doesn't work with them. You will need VST subhost like EnergyXT to deal wi...

How to remove patch changing command from imported midi?
When I imported midi files created by Guitar Pro into Live, I've got an awful problem. Tracks hold general midi patch value they had in Guitar Pro, and when imported midi clip plays from the beginning, it switches my VSTi to this patch value. Imported tracks have some MIDI Ctrl envelopes which inclu...

Oh, and I join the pray for cloned clips . And suggest inherited clips - cloned MIDI clips, but modified in some places, and these modified places are marked with color, with ability to erase modified notes and undo changes one by one. Perfect for variation clips (this feature was rather ugly introd...
