With "configure" enabled you can rearrange the order of your VST parameters by dragging them around. You don't have to click them all over.

Re: Going Live - what might i need to add to my setup live perf.

I agree with the potential need for transformer isolation. Modecai, this is the bottom line: If your output is balanced, you do not need/ want a direct box. A transformer isolation, on the other hand, can be handy. A transformer isolation will keep any dc bias that might exist on the house gear from...

Re: Going Live - what might i need to add to my setup live perf.

We're discussing two different concepts: line level vs mic level and balanced vs unbalanced. I think it's worth understanding why we use balanced signals to help understand what it means. A typical audio signal is sent via a two conductor cable (signal and shield). The shield doubles as a ground (ea...

Just a note from a former front of house guy: if your sound card already outputs a balanced (+, -, gnd), you might just need an adapter to turn your TRS F to XLR M.

Re: ableton + motu 828 routing question

If you want mono outputs from your 828, you have to go into the Audio tab in Preferences, select "Output Config", and enable the outputs as mono outputs vice stereo pairs. You'll see it when you get in there. An odd thing happens with the 828 in Live. Because the 828 has more than 8 outputs (combini...

Re: Usine touchscreen APC color Free!

Sadly, Sensomusic recently decided to make downloads of add-ons only available to paid customers.
I was rather disappointed. I was about to give your add-on a spin.

Re: Apc40 and 20 in combination mode, Track Control??

There is a very simple question being asked here, but it has not been asked in a simple enough way, perhaps. The question is simply: When using an APC40 and and APC20, how do I control pan and aux sends for the tracks assigned to the APC20? I'm guessing the answer is, "Shift and use the faders." Tha...

Performance mode or resizable clip launch buttons

I would like to see a "performance mode" setting where clicking anywhere on a clip (not just the tiny little clip launch button) would launch or stop the clip. "Performance mode" in this sense should be configurable to select clip on launch, select track on launch, or do not select on launch. This w...

Re: Playbox: DIY Multi-touch UI for Ableton Live (video)

If Ableton would just allow some setting in Session mode that made the whole area of the clip box act as the the play and stop button, and made it compatible with multi-touch, then we could just run Ableton Live on a multi-touch monitor and have all of the same possibilities. I would settle for anyt...

Re: Killer iPad app

I would get a iPad if something like that existed. However, I would prefer USB or Bluetooth connectivity since my audio card (MOTU 828 mkII FW) glitches if I don't disable the computer's wifi.

Re: LIve Performance

thanks for the advice all. I'm soaking it all in. I think for stability I will probably open reason first then ableton and cue a loop in reason as the first song ends, close the live session and open up the new song in ableton as the reason file plays. Doesn't give me much down time between tracks ...

Re: Anyone use a Nord Stage EX as their midi controller?

Thanks for the responses! All I really need the midi controller to do is function as drums, bass, keys, synths, horns, strings, percussion, etc, etc....I won't be using it to trigger clips or anything. I will use the APC40 to manipulate Live. Can the Nord be used this way? Nearly any MIDI capable k...

Re: "reconnect midi control surfaces" shortcut/button

I wouldn't expect a capability to recognize new gear after the session is opened, but an ability to reconnect MIDI or audio gear that may become disconnected during a live set would be tops.
