Re: drone /ambientquestion?

I feel compelled to mention Angstrom's technique of using insert effects with Ableton's looper to generate beautiful drones with slowly varying pulsations. It takes a little work to get it set up, but the results are golden. He gives step by step instructions and a demo video on his website. https:/...

I have tried 2 different drum pads, (Akai MPD218, Akai MPK249) and the funny thing is, if i use the pia...

Re: My Best/Worst Purchases

Best: - U-He Diva: I can't seem to get a bad sound out of it, so inspiring. - U-He Zebra: I don't care for the UI, but it's SO versatile and can sound great (and is less CPU hungry than Diva.) - Arturia KeyStep: The keyboard I grab most often for quick sessions with both software and hardware synths...

Re: Midi Workflow

There is a cool thing you can do: Just drag the midi window to full size. To exit just use SHIFT + TAB. That way you can simply double click any midi or audio clip, edit in full size and won't have to drag the window small again. For me that was a lifesaver when I found that shortcut. I always wond...

Re: Step sequencer synced with the played key

Hi Community ! I own Live 9 suite, ... I want to program a step sequencer which base note will depend on the note played on the keyboard, as it does for an arpegiator. Hi Flios, Check out the Max for Live "Mono Sequencer" (Max for Live > Max MIDI Effect > Mono Sequencer.amxd). On the far right hand...

Re: Does anyone use Audacity as a clip editor?

... After I repair the clip in Audacity and save it (save project) Then I close audacity and it doesn't update in Ableton Live.... Any clue what I'm doing wrong? Yeah, it's the saving of the Audacity project that's tripping you up. Using Audacity as the clip editor is possible, but kind of painful....

- watching too many “how to” video’s instead of doing … OMG :!: This x1000. Actually, I would expand it to "having the internet available when making music." Most commercial web sites are specifically designed to capture your attention and give you little hits of dopamine to keep you coming back. T...

Re: Macbook Keyboard sometimes Dead in Ableton with El Capitan

Are you using the builtin keyboard on the MacBook, or an external (bluetooth or USB) keyboard?

I sometimes have problems using an external bluetooth keyboard on my late-2013 MBP if I also have WiFi turned on, but it's not specific to Ableton.

Re: Why does Ableton keep adding new features that no one wants?

Why is improving Push and its integration into Live such a priority? Because Live was never envisioned as a normal DAW, even from the beginning. The earliest versions said "Live Sequencing Instrument " on the box. But people see track lanes and faders and automation and assume it's supposed to be w...

Re: Ableton as slave on midi clock tempo sync issue

Can you use Ableton as the master and the PSR as the slave? Do you have something else that could work as the master clock to drive both Ableton and the PSR set as slaves (or external clock)? There are dedicated MIDI clock devices (e.g. the E-RM MIDIclock), or any reasonably capable drum machine wou...

No. All the USB ports on one computer are ultimately powered by one 5 volt power supply. You would need independent, isolated power supplies for each port to do what you're suggesting.

Re: Point me in the right direction please?

Hard to say what the problem might be. First thing I would do is check to see if your audio interface is supported under OS X 10.11 or if new drivers are available for it. Did this problem show up immediately after upgrading the OS? IIRC, the El Cap upgrade continues to make changes and "optimize" t...
