Re: send/receive race condition - track dependencies
Thanks for the tips, both. I tried setting one MIDI track as the input to another, but between the In / Auto / Off options I couldn't get the MIDI data to merge. Am I missing something there? If I set it to In, it uses the other track's MIDI to control the instrument. If I set it to Auto, it uses th...

Re: Key Scale and Chord Tracks to Improve Composing
I usually just play in C or Am and transpose to desired key, but once you're in the MIDI editor you're stuck with carefully dodging notes. Especially when hand editing notes during playback you have to hear the wrong note as you drag notes around, which is annoying (I want note preview to hear the n...

Re: send/receive race condition - track dependencies
If I route two tracks into one, can Max process simultaneous MIDI events somehow? Or at least in a guaranteed order? The use case is having two MIDI tracks trigger notes at the exact same sample time for an arpeggiator.
Will have a play regardless. Thanks

Re: send/receive race condition - track dependencies
I didn't think that was possible because it's not just a simple merge of the MIDI events. If I need a Max patch, I need 2 MIDI inputs somehow, and Live only offers one per track.

send/receive race condition - track dependencies
Disclaimer: I'm quite new to Max, so apologies if some of this is wrong/presumptuous... :) In my style I have generally 2-4 bass instruments and a few acid lines, all of which need *usually* follow the same note. Using a send/receive pair between tracks to effectively have independent 2 MIDI inputs ...

Macro control domain/range settings + math expressions
Often I want a single do-it-all knob for an instrument rack I'm working with, so that say once I modulate a LPF down to a certain point I then begin to HPF it up. I need the HPF to only act in the 0.9-1.0 domain, and sweep through 0.0-0.3 range. I currently cannot do this with Live, which is a shame...

Freeze Partial Device Chain
Seen this in Reaper. Perfect solution to using sidechain compression with frozen tracks. You can elect to freeze only up until a certain device in an effect chain, which means you can leave your sidechain compressor live. Compressors are cheap anyway, it's the 500 voice supersaw that's taking up my ...
