Any ideas how I could read a midi clip into an in-memory data structure and then use something like a phasor~ to drive playback at different rates?

It looks like I can use FM8 as an insert effect and designate the audio stream as an operator. Not sure how useable this is going to be though- but at a base level, it does work. I need to do some more experimentation.

Yeah- FM and Freq Shifter are similar, insofar as they're operating in the frequency domain, but the effect is very different (in my experience) because generally FM is adding overtones without changing your fundamental whereas Frequency Shifter is just moving ...

I love how you can add FM to your sounds in Sampler- but what if I have some other sound produced by a non-sampler device? Is there a way to add FM almost like an insert effect? Perhaps an M4L device or some special trick?
