Taking samples to a studio that uses Pro Tools

Hello, I've done all the pre-production work on a song in Ableton Live 8, and next month I'm going into a large studio that uses Pro Tools. 2 questions 1. Is there a way to export all my samples and into something like .wav files then import them into Pro Tools? I'm assuming there is, but can someon...

Re: How can I keep those final halls?

Yeah, that caught me the first time I exported. There's probably a few tricks around that, but I just extend a deactivated clip an extra bar or two.

Re: speeding up a production

Another vote for Mike Monday. I'm in month 2 of a 6 month program. I've been a musician for over 20 years and I can tell you his advice is sound. The bottom line is you need remove your creative barriers (and there are MANY) and he'll give you strategies for overcoming them. I ate up all of his free...

I bought this and love it. It's got all the features of an arpeggiator I could think of – and more!

Is it possible to control my Ableton Live instruments? Do I need something like iConnect midi to get the midi notes in my mac?

Thanks!

Re: EDM, funky/groovy track

Liking the tones. Individually, they're very nice. While I dig the bass timbre, not sure if it's appropriate here. Did you try a sub-bass type thing? I think if you lowered it's overall attention in the mix, you'd have room for another melody line or harmony. Also, you should try putting the drums i...

Re: Next step in Music Theory?

@evangy

Couple more thoughts...

1. Memorize the major scale in every key (I need to do this myself on piano). I'm fortunate on guitar, since the 'shapes' are movable.

2. Have you studied the Circle of Fifths/Fourths? It's an amazing tool. That's another one worth memorizing.

Good luck!

Re: Next step in Music Theory?

Great advice in this thread. I'm almost in the exact same boat. I just finished "Music Composition for Dummies" today. It assumes you already know the theory – which it sounds like do – and takes it the next step. There are many other books out there regarding 'composition' and songwriting, which is...
