Re: what point do you give up on a song? after 1, 2 or 6 years?
If I have a song that just can't get finished, I take a step back and consider maybe using parts of it in other songs. Sometimes a chord progression or a mood would work great in something else. I let it die and reincarnate instead of trying to hold it up with plastic surgery and botox, you know?

Re: oxygen 49 or mpk mini?
The MPK Mini has tiny shitty keys, low profile knobs, and no pitch or mod wheels. Great on a train if you want to look like a hipster in triangle world. In the real world though, the Oxygen has 49 full sized keys, transport controls, great rubbery knobs, 9 sliders, 9 switches, pitch, mod, track-con...

A decision of genius! You're gonna love that combo.charlie360x wrote:Thank you for all the replies guys, I decided to go for APC40 + Maschine (Full). Current version is priced at £329 (£469 for MK2, available from October) so it's quite a good deal I think. Cheers!

Re: Akai APC40 + Drum Pad. Please help choosing right setup
Thank you for your suggestions, I've been looking at Maschine too, but I thought it's more DJ than producer equipment. Anyway, it will suit me well too, but price difference between Mikro and normal version is huge! If I get Maschine mikro, will I be able to use knobs from APC40 with Maschine Mikro...

Re: Akai APC40 + Drum Pad. Please help choosing right setup
Might I suggest Maschine or Maschine Mikro? Not only will you be getting fantastic pads (probably the best out there) you'll also get an amazing software with thousands of drum samples. Last year I built my own first home studio and I was in the same situation as you. It was a toss up between the MP...

I read this topic title as "the guitar is better than .... is better than Ableton".
Guess I've spent too much time on snarky message boards, eh.

Re: if you intend to make $$ from music you should read this :
This is why you stick to music as art, expression, and fun, and not worry about making money as your priority. Adopting this approach will not only make your art/music better, but will give your own spirit an extra set of wings. Ironically, all art made with a genuine and free approach eventually lu...

Re: convert .aif to .wav
I use Foobar2000 for converting .aif to wav, but I'm not sure about 24 to 16 bit. Someone else will have to chime in.
