working remotely using cleanfeed

i did a session today with a vocalist in florida (i'm in new york). we used 'cleanfeed', which worked nicely (i have no affiliation with them). i used two pc's on my end, one for cleanfeed and one for ableton. one tricky bit is that the remote signal can't be routed through the master (it would be c...

if it is results that count, nebulae has certainly delivered for us. (disclaimer: i also consider him to be a good friend and brother at arms). i posted his most recent hba remix (double down quick) at slice the pie, amie street, and thesixtyone about 48 hours ago. so far, it's got a 70% rating at s...

i had a friend's axon for a few months, loved it.

apparently, tho, the roland vg-99 has midi out, i'd seriously give that a look.

coolo thing to do: control vocoder pitch via guitar/axon, run vocal loops through same, play human voices with your guitar.....

no...my goal is to be able to record the first loop freely. With no tempo, quantization or duration restrictions. And then have the following clips synchronized with the first one recorded. aha, now i understand. an external solution like augustus (or perhaps, if money is no object, a lexicon jam-m...

in preferences/record-warp-launch is loop/warp short samples on auto? how are you triggering the start/stop points of the clip? (the keyboard is very handy for that, (stolen from motherbrain) for track1 use 'a', track2 's', track3 'd', etc. use A or S or D etc as stop clips on the associated tracks....

it sounds like you may not have quantize on, or it may be set to a small value. if quantize is on and set for say, 1 measure, every loop you record will start in time, and you can use loops of any number of measures, of course if you want to have it all line up you'd choose multiples like 2,4,8. thi...

imogen heap/kid beyond _AUDIO_ setup question

my band does a similar thing to kid beyond and imogen heap, using live of course. we use in ear monitors/headphones (ie no stage sound), my problem is that in, say a 4 bar loop, there are moments when the vocalist is singing, and moments when she's not. the mic picks up the house sound during the 'o...

we usually play without stage monitors, instead we use headphones/in ears. there are still issues where the house sound can bleed through. try putting a gate in front of any other efx, this will kill sound below a certain level and allow you to set volumes higher. also, the best stage mic possible/a...

"sexier than everything but the girl"

the folks at http://www.amphetameme.org were too too kind to us. here are some examples of their prose: "I’d also like to add a note about “who they sound like”. To tell the truth, they remind me a little of “Everything But The Girl”, only sexier - if such a thing is possible." "But damn, what a fin...

My response would be to get a better mixer. i was hoping to do this with as little outboard gear as possible, ideally i would like a laptop and one two-space rack unit. i need an audio interface, some kind of preamp/compressor for the vocals (maybe with built-in efx?) and a headphone amp. if i have...

it's a bit after new year's, but i'll try to answer your question. thanks, i appreciate your input. what most people do is avoid monitoring the live signal through ableton because it introduces unwanted latency which can cause problems and just generally feels wierd for the vocalist. we're giving c...
