Re: "Upgrade" to Live 10, - reinstall plugins etc.?
The article posted there pretty much says it. Long story short, nope, the process is very quick/easy actually. I was dreeaaading reinstalling everything Ableton-related, as between my plugins and packs and just everything else, a fresh Ableton install is usually around 4-5 hours for me. I was prepar...

Can I just "update" Live 9 to Live 10 without fresh install?
Does anyone know if, for installation of Live 10, you'll have to completely re-install the program, then install eeeevery VST, pack, etc. separately as if it were a fresh install of Ableton? Or will there be some sort of "update" install, where Ableton just updates to Live 10 if you have L...

Re: Am I The Only One Not Impressed?
The way things look, and if people like them, is subjective, I get that. With that said though, the Ableton GUI is masterful IMO. Granted, I've only used Cakewalk back in the day, Reaper and Bitwig (and have seen videos though of everything else)....but yeah, compared to anything I've seen, I LOVE t...

Re: Is Ableton a long term investment ? I am asking because --
I've changed computers/hardware numerous times in the past few years and have probably done done 4-5 installs, once on a separate laptop, and the other 3-4 times on the same desktop, just with rebuilt/updated components. Definitely never had a problem here.

Re: WHY DOES ABLETON ALWAYS DO THIS?!
To somewhat side with the OP and against the “you should know better” or workaround people, “collect all and save” should do just that, or name it “collect most and save”. The obvious reason anybody would ever want to use that feature is to share with somebody else or use on a different computer wi...

Re: Ableton Live 10
For me it would be: 1) Session View Comping 2) Musical staff composing for MIDI Aaaaand that's it. For me, those would be absolute gamechangers. Editing highly layered MIDI arrangements in ONE musical staff, with different instruments color coded would pretty much end any discussion about "whic...

Re: live 9: speed and stability versus live 8
Since this thread got resurrected, I'll chime in. 9 and 9.1 are very stable. I've probably had 3 or 4 crashes in the last year with 9 / 9.1 versus 1 crash for ever 2 uses for Live 8. Projects take a lot longer to load in Live 9 than they ever did, but with my i7/16GB RAM new computer, it still only ...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...
Honestly, at least for me, Bitwig missed the bandwagon. With purchasing Live 9 Suite (and liking it), Bitwig will have to have some truly gamechanging features to get me to even think about switching over. If they released it around the same time as Live 9, then there would have been a dogfight. But...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?
I'm just lucky in that the type of music I make (metal/rock with occasional electronic elements) really doesn't require all that much in the of ridiculous numbers of tracks with tons of plugins. If my type of music did, I'd be just as pissed as the ones are who are complaining about this. I'm just t...

Re: Live 9.1 Install Erased All My Saved Sets
Something doesn't seem right here. On Windows, the default install location for live is C:\ProgramData\Ableton\Live 9\. Did you really have your Live sets stored there? Because that's an odd place to store them. What I'm hoping is that they're really stored somewhere else and for some reason Live h...

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EZdrummer/ Hey dude, just FYI, EZDrummer is at the almost literally unbelievable price of $29 right now at Sweetwater and AudioDeluxe. I might PM you just so you get this info too, just because it's a Black Friday weekend thing, and never before has this kind o...

Re: Live 9.1 Install Erased All My Saved Sets
All I have now is Ableton 9.1 displaying some cached file of all my recent sets I've worked on in the last X days....greyed out because they're unavailable. This greyed out text is the last I have of so many songs...so many hours... Fuuuuu............ http://s23.postimg.org/kcmut9cqz/Ableton_Files_L...

Re: Live 9.1 Install Erased All My Saved Sets
are you on Windows ? Do you have System Restore on that drive? Unfortunately not... It's a random partition on one of my few hard drives. I never did set Windows restore to be active on that drive. Thinking back, being that I never got around to actually backing up my live sets, and never did set W...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...
Wonder if they'll give transient detection threshold controls. That's something big that's missing from Live 9. Clip editing seems like such a no-brainer, in years to come we'll laugh about the old days reminiscing about a time when you couldn't edit a clip. It's like Photoshop without Layers. Yeah...

Live 9.1 Install Erased All My Saved Sets
Guys...I think I know the answer to this (and I feel like I'm about to vomit), but I had my live set save folder in the /ProgramData/Ableton/Live 9 Suite folder. In other words, I took where Live 9 installed itself back earlier this year when I bought it, and I just made a new subfolder there for al...
