Wait for Microvision's PicoP projection technology to hit the market - it uses frickin' lasers! And a cool scanning mirror.

Say whatcha want: the man knows his fan base and is playing the "soon-to-be-post-record-label" music industry like some kind of freakin' pinball wizard.

Re: OT: The death penalty for cracked software - too harsh?
Interesting that the 'napster' generation (the 21-30 yr olds) majority think it's OK to pirate software, whereas the kids (u20s) so far are against it. And that the pre 'napster' generation of 31 years plus are more against than for pirate software. Tiny, non-random data set, to be sure, but it is ...

And that seems to sort of summarize this issue.friend_kami wrote:[the crime commited may be that simple, but the topic is not.

I ensure you rjbourc that you could read threads about this on hundreds of other forums from around the world every single day for hours at a time until the day you die, on this topic. True, and you could have just skipped over this one. :) Sorry, but it's the music software-specific aspect of this...

Re: OT: The death penalty for cracked software - too harsh?
when I really stop to think about it I don't really believe in patents. Imagine if the man who invented the wheel had patented it, he would have been the king of the world by now. Well, probably by now his patent would have expired... 8O The idea of a patent is to bestow a modest exclusionary perio...

OT: The death penalty for cracked software - too harsh?
Sorry about the inflammatory post title (eh, not really). Just trying to understand this issue a little better. The "press" tells me this is a generational issue. To me, it's totally obvious that using cracked software is outright thievery - clearly not a universally held belief. What's yo...
