Re: Why do my tracks sound better inside Ableton than exported?

Some say that LIVEs summing enginge is not that great. Or you could argue that no DAWs summing engines are as good as if yo u had an analog summing box. If you are really interested check out some external summing boxes. All DAW summing engines are more or less pretty similar to each other. DAW sum...

Re: Ableton Live in jazz music?

I’m Jan a jazz guitar student from Switzerland and I’m writing my bachelor thesis about Ableton Live in jazz music and therefore I need some help/your knowledge. What options does Ableton Live offer which are used in jazz? By who? And where do I get other information which could be interesting and ...

Re: Who programmed the DSP for Ableton's stock plugins?

Does anyone know who programmed the DSP for Ableton's stock plugins? Obviously Softube did the ones that are labelled as such, and Glue Compressor is Cytomic's The Glue, but I'm curious about the others. AIR did many of the Pro Tools plugins back in the day, and many of Omnisphere's effects were do...

Re: Which DAW/peripheral

So, I know this is probably a loaded question(especially in this forum), BUT, which DAW do you think would be best to learn on? I've tried both Maschine and Live, but can't seem to find the rhythm in either one of these. Had the Studio in Maschine which was awesome to get something going quickly, a...

Re: How to make a realistic guitar sound using MIDI?

I find it hard to make a good and realistic guitar sound from a MIDI track in Live. Especially when you play multiple strings at the same time, the result from the MIDI doesn't sound as good as a real guitar. I have done some tings to improve the MIDI: -I first replaced the original piano chords I ...

Re: RAM Memory usage in Live 10

Dont necessarily sound like a Ram issue.

A good sign you are running into RAM issues is if your disk usage meter is high.

Not necessarily a bad problem unless you are getting glitches.

That said you probably want at least 8 gigs but it all depends on your usage.

Re: Going Native...

Producing, Mixing, Mastering....all in live? Of course this IS possible but does it mean it gives you a professional result? I've been working on a live set and, for reasons to are too long and not well thought out enough to explain, I am looking to keep all of my instruments and plugins native to ...

Re: Am I the *ONLY* one finding M4L actually honestly unusable!?

I consider M4L to be "experimental" and somewhat "beta" like. Alot of devices are very stable but many obscure devices can and do crash Ableton. Some of it is part of the charm though. I guess when Ableton gets tested, its non Max devices probably gets more thoroughly tested. A bug in the Compressor...

Re: Audio Editor / Editing

Live is non-destructive, it doesn't do destructive editing. Only editing with external editor, which you can specify in the File/Folder Preferences: https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/clip-view/#8-2-4-destructive-sample-editing Personally I don't even get why people want destructive editing, I don't...

Re: 3rd party plug-in side chain coming?

Wait, waaaaaaaaa? Great vid, Fanu - so in your example the sidechain dropdown was something that's going to be live in 10.1? Sore makes it a lot easier than what currently goes on with external sidechaining! EDIT: whoops, just read Jester's link. I am legit excited! Probably the best 10.1 feature. ...

Re: Make the bass in a bass track more "even"

Multiband compression, or better: dynamic Eq. But take into account that your room as a lot of influence on bass. This. You're getting resonances on certain frequencies, and that's why it sounds uneven. The resonance is either on the sound/instrument or in your room. Try listening to it with headph...

Re: Do you have to buy the Sampler?

Oh, I see Is there a way of importing soundfonts without the Sampler? To be honest, you are probably better off with a 3rd party possibly freeware solution if you just need Soundfont support. If you just need to import basic Soundfont drum kits or very simple programs with minimal amp/filter/pitch ...

I'm starting to love the Ableton compressor (the standard one)

I have just started doing more vocal tracking sessions in Ableton where I'm forcing myself to only use stock plugins (to save CPU use and maximize stability during paid sessions), and I'm finding after tweaking the Ableton compressor can be dialed in very well. I'm often getting to the mixing stage ...

Re: Core 2 duo laptop for Live 10?

Just asking if an older core 2 duo laptop would be ok for Live 10.1? I have a c2d 2.4ghz with Windows 10 64 and thinking of adding an internal ssd and 8gb I don’t really use any vst plug ins apart from a few fx as I use a lot of simplers Just asking if this would work ok as I know it won’t be the f...
