Re: Sample Library Selection and Organization
No system. I've one dumping ground for 1-shots, and another for loops. And I've a holding folder for samples that I've bit, or extracted off the internet. * You could use Audiofinder or smart folders with a number of saved searches and see if it catches enough to keep you satisfied? Maybe make a se...

Re: Annoying automation recording in arangement view
Hi! I'm having the same problem in a different situation. I need to record audio in a track (armed) while I move the controls of another tracks (not armed). Then, later in the piece I have to go back to the begining and playback what I have recorded, while I keep moving the controls in the other tr...

Sample Library Selection and Organization
Alright everyone, I'm seeking some advice from my peers here. Some background, I've been producing with Live since 2005 and have amassed too large of a sample library, most of which I don't use. I want to know how you guys handle your libraries. Are you going through massive folder archives, keeping...

Re: Annoying automation recording in arangement view
Thanks for trying to help I was aware I could do this though, and find those solutions totally inadequate. The problem with 1: I want to feel free to play around in the instrument and not remember every dial I moved (which I would have to do in order to enter the new automation). and 2: entering a ...

Re: Annoying automation recording in arangement view
Essentially I encountered the problem because I had a friend in the studio with me and was trying to multitask. He was jamming around on my midi controller playing softsynth and the resulting performance is bieng recorded into arangement. To get a tempo for him to jam too I programmed a midi clip d...

Re: Edit pitch bend of a recorded midi performance
I'd like to know how to simply edit the pitchbend data of a recorded midi performance. Double click the clip, then near the bottom left of the clip view, click the small circular "E" button (show/hide envelopes box). In the now displayed envelopes box choose "midi ctrl" from the...

Re: Annoying automation recording in arangement view
I actually have another thing that annoys me about automation recording in general and that is that it only records the parameters I changed while recording. All the parameters I didn't change while recording should at least get a start and an end break point, so that if I play with those parameter...

Re: Annoying automation recording in arangement view
No. No automation at all. At this point I dont want ANY automation, yet it gets recorded anyways. There is a loop playing and my friend is recording some synth in real time over it. Record arm is activated on the synth track its not activated on the loop track. Global record is activated but automa...

Re: downside to breaking songs down to small clips in session v?
It may increase the processor load, but not because of follow actions, it depends on the content of the clips. If you have say 8 clips all accessing the same audio file, clips start/end set accordingly to play through with follow actions, Live only has to load that audio content once. If those same ...

Re: Recording Midi FX automation from Midi keyboard (Venom)
a) When adjusting items like filter, pitch bend and so on while playing back pre recorded Midi notes, the automation is not being recorded into Ableton. In the input settings on the Midi track I have selected 'Venom Synth In' (same settings as for when recording notes in) and in the configure secti...

Re: Resources/Tutorials on EQing?
Here's a couple good resources to get you started. http://theproaudiofiles.com/equalization-hear-me-out/ http://theproaudiofiles.com/subtractive-vs-additive-eq/ I've found also that most things you read in Tape Op magazine will probably be sound advice. The editors of that magazine are very well ver...

Re: Is it possible to hide time ruler in arrangement view?
To my knowledge it is not possible to hide the time ruler. The only option you have with it is to right click (ctrl+click) and change it's unit of measurement.

Re: Annoying automation recording in arangement view
On your Operator loop in Session View, do you have automation recorded into the clip? Any automation that you've added to the clip in Session View will be recorded into Arrangement View no matter the state of the Automation Arm or track specific Record Arm buttons. I'm not completely sure I'm unders...

Re: Tempo shifting track recommendations
i just want to ask if any of you has a good recommendation for tempo shifting tracks Hey man, if you're wanting to change tempo over time in Arrangement View that's no problem, you can simply right click (ctrl +click) the tempo field in the upper left corner and click "show automation". I...
