My apologies, you're quite right.
My VSTs do have presets, which show up in the VST program dropdown in the plug-in device. I was expecting to see the AU's factory presets there.

Not so much a beta bug, as something I assumed would be addressed in Live 8.
Live does not offer access to the factory presets of AU plug-ins, only to those of VST plug-ins. Why is this?
