Re: Dropbox: Syncing between two machines?
Currently using Dropbox for a similar purpose - a collaborator and I share a dropbox folder so our work is centralized. We basically never save to the same project (i.e. we could clobber the other's edits), but for the purpose it's been serving it's done a great job. painlessly simple. If you're a u...

Re: Max for Live forum?
Woops. I've got that, but incorrectly assumed that it was still closed and only available to beta members.. If it's open, great, and I'll shut up. :pS4racen wrote:Well there's a max4live beta forum, i didn't realise that it isn't open.....
It's really good in there as well...!

Max for Live forum?
So, I'm guessing since there's a Max for Live forum on Cycling '74 that Ableton isn't planning on creating one here -- but you guys would really make some happy customers if you did. Cycling's forum is really difficult to navigate through, and it'll make it difficult for Max for Live people to colla...

Re: idea: loyalty prices for longtime purchasers?
I doubt I'm the first person to think about this, but I wonder if/when software companies like Ableton will get on recognizing when a user has been a longtime customer, and give them breaks on upgrade pricing in relation to how long they have been paying for the product. Upgrade pricing is the disc...

But, you can't just plug in the VCI-100 and start scratching with it.. I've gotten scratching to work but haven't gotten it refined enough to release a 'VCI-100' controller ensemble yet. I take that back.. While you can't just plug in the VCI-100 and go, the amount of work required to get scratchin...

Which are the scratch-tastic ensembles? Was already considering the vci-100 to use with Traktor as I still have issues with Live's sound for djing. Well, like I said, Reaktor has been _capable_ of scratching for many years, as evidenced by this ensemble from 2001. http://www.native-instruments.com/...

Read the article, good writing. In a nutshell, as a Live user, why might I want this? I'm still unpatiently waiting for a way to scratch samples as a VST in Live, I've tried some of the current options (turntablist pro), they're cute but nowhere near the feel and simplicity of grabbing vinyl and a ...

Re: what's wrong with the jog wheels?
hey corp- what's wrong with the jog wheels? It's covered in my review. Long story short, the jog-wheel when touched sends C2 note-down, and rotational CC16 values 0-65 for reverse, 65-128 for forward.. When you lift your hand from the jog-wheel it doesn't stop the C2 note-on signal until the wheel ...

Re: Two DJ Questions
[quote="npseaver1"]Hey, I just started doing live DJ sets with Live 5, using a midi keyboard as a control, and I have two questions: 1. Is there a way to set a MIDI trigger to repeat the previous x beats of a song? Like if I want to stutter something without having to click in at the point...

ok thanks a lot halcyon! should I be doing this in session view or arrangement view? Session view for performing and recording, Arrangement view for manipulating /rearranging recorded sessions and tweaking. It sounds like you're an Acid user who's converted over (and if so, welcome), if you're thin...

in other words, how can i pause the second track?.. Once I press start both songs play at the same time and if I stop the second track it goes back to the beginning... You can either mute it and bring it back later or make a duplicate clip with a trigger point setup for when you want it to continue...

when I first came across those python files in Live I imagined someone hacking an internal midi routing workaround so we could use midi plugins without having to resort to third party midi loop back drivers, or maybe allowing us to use the rack macro interface to send midi to external hardware. Tha...
