I've written up a guide on how to do this with dummy clips.

Basically, use dummy clips to move the chain selector around. This can be used as a ghetto way to MIDI map soloing of chains.

Hey, sorry it took me so long to see this. I can't say which is better as I'm obviously a bit biased, but if you're still looking and have any questions I'd be glad to answer them. Thanks for the interest, and I'd be interested to know why you decided on whichever template you decide on.

Unfortunately this version will be for Live 9 only.

Due to Ableton changing how the Midi Remote Scripts function, there will not be backwards compatability to Live 8. Version 2 of my scripts still work fine in Live 8 however.

This is for Live Performance / DJing. Guess this is the wrong forum really, not sure where it should go though.

Actually I just tested them in the latest beta (9.0b65) and they still work.

The scripts have been updated by Ableton, so unfortunately there will not be cross-compatibility between Live 8 and 9 for MIDI...

Map the button you want to select the 'empty clip' to the Track Progress Bar/Pie graph. This will select that track so you can see/adjust the effects/racks. I assume this is what you're trying to accomplish.
