Re: Famous People Who Use Ableton PUSH
Where is the Salt-N-Pepa video? You know the one. "Ahh. Push it. Push it Real Good."

Re: Push means APC40 is redundant right?
I can see where Push might be handy for someone that does not play keys. But that is not me. The APC40 plus a keyboard works very well when I want to create. So far what I have seen about push does not make me want to give up that combination.

Re: Apple forgets about musicians
I don't think Apple forgets. I think they always feel they know best and users should happily follow where they lead. Apple has never hesitated to drop options or break third party products with redefined specs. After moving a bunch of money today I'm sitting here trying to decide if I really want ...

Re: Ableton Live with Windows 8...?
Microsoft is strange when it comes to upgrading computers. At the office we buy Win7Pro licenses and refurbished HP computers. The refurbished HP's normally come with Win7Home. The version of Win7Pro that comes with the license will not directly upgrade a Win7Home computer. We have to format and ...

Re: Ableton Live 9 soon? thoughts?
I was happy with Live 3. Don't need another full blown DAW with all the bells, wistles and bloat.

Re: How tidy are you?
I'm not tidy, just organized.
I don't always label but I do tend to put things in the same order project after project. Drums, then percussion, then bass, then pads, etc... Back in the days of SF Acid 1 I got into a habit of copying loops into a project folder.

Re: Dream PC (is this overkill?)
That is pretty close to what I just received and I don't cosider it overkill. Better over than under. Instead of smaller, 10Krpm drives I went with 7200rpm and upped the size to a 1TB for OS and 3 x 2TB for samples and music. I always run out of HD space. Spreading sample libraries across drives ...

Re: What operating system do you use?
I had been running both WinXp desktop and the latest OSX on a MacBookPro. Just went to a Win7x64 box and not looking back. Everyting I need is finally Win764 compliant and I am loving it. Win7 is the new XP. Fast, stable, and will probably stay on my DAW as long as XP did.

Re: How Many of You Wish You Had a Place to Get Away to 4 Music?
In the apartment I had a bedroom for music but had to do everything with headphones. In my new house I have a large bonus room over the garrage. It has been great. Room for VDrums, keyboards, two computers, ... everything. Plus a reclyner and TV/XBox. I added a seperate air conditioner because all ...

Re: Windows 7
I'm upgrading my Vista desktops and Vista laptop to Win 7 64. My main DAW is staying with XP 32 for now. Once I know everything is working, including the UAD-2, I may update my XP machine. The only problem I have so far is the update itself. My version of Win 7 will not upgrade my Vista Ultimate. It ...

Re: Trying to choose a 15" or 17" Macbook Pro, will 8 Tracks fit
The only place my 17" feels too big is flying coach. When buying a Windows laptop for music I went with an 18" screen. IMHO, For two inches more desk space the extra screen space is worth it. Take note of USB and firewire jack placement. I think they are different on 15" and 17" MacBookPro's. That ...

Re: How was Live 1like?
Simple and focused, but not as easy to control and the sound engine was not as good. Ableton's time-stretch routines have improved a lot since then.

Re: Mac or PC?
I use a $3000.00 MacBookPro and a refurbished HP laptop that can be picked up at PC Mall for $700. They are both 17" hi-res with the same processor. The differences.

Thanks for the quick responce. I can work around number 2 by using the included instruments and VirSyn Tera 3 for most things. I guess the real decision will be installing Tera 3 as a VSTI or AU or both on the Mac. Once I update and install I will do a test and see how hard it is to convert channels ...
