Looking for Inspiration - Electronic music with "Real Drums"

Hello, I recently obtained a Roland TD-3SW kit to finally be able to play drums indoors. Previously, I would write the drum tracks within Ableton, but am going to move away from that. Some of the electronic music that have 'real' sounding drums, whether from an electronic kit or an acoustic kit, hav...

NIN mix, seeking advice for beginner

I don't know if it's a remix or a mashup, but it's work in progress, so I'm looking for some feedback on this:

Also, tell me if you like it :)

Re: Need ideas: BPM transition

yeah, some good ideas there. I've already made the chorus at the same tempo as the verse, but it does not sound right at all. I've lowered the tempo of the verse to match the chorus and it loses the energy which is the entire backbone of the remix. I like the ambient idea. I'll try messing around wi...

Re: Need ideas: BPM transition

yeah, it's a musical problem here, nothing technical. I can't really identify it, but going from the verse to the chorus, actually, it feels exactly like walking on a moving treadmill at an airport, then stepping off onto the regular floor. What I need is something that hints at a tempo transition, ...

Need ideas: BPM transition

Hello, I'm working on a mashup with a "verse" that's running at one tempo (98bpm) and needs to slow down (to somewhere between 94 and 96) for the "chorus", else it really does not sound right. The verse sounds great at 98 and the chorus sounds great at 96. Neither of them sound good at the other tem...

Re: How do i start ARRANGEMENT at 0.0.0?

You can have it count for 4 beats before starting at 1.1.1. that's the only idea I have, sorry :(

Re: What is the best hard drive for trance?

SSD?? Are you nuts? Then you lose the angular momentum of the disc drive, which is essential to the core pulse of trance!!!

You might as well try to record with dirt, cause that's what it'll sound like

Re: Please Help, Muted Tracks

Can you post a pic of your arrangement view when the muting is happening? It could be any number of things. (All channels muted, master track muted, volumes down, quiet track solo'd, etc etc etc) Check everything.

Re: Why are my hi-hats coming out as clicks?!?!?!

just to troubleshoot, is there a stretch setting set too low? is pitch increased too high? high-pass filter set too high? all these could make your hats sound like clicks

That's a strange problem, but I've experienced similar ones. They're usually solved by just creating a new project. :?

Re: Newbie - inherited some equipment, need help and direction

You could try out what I'm doing, which is to take each piece/tool at a time. Spend quite a large chunk of time learning ableton on just a laptop. I wouldn't even think about setting everything else up. Once you're good enough with that, add the midi controller. Once that feel comfortable, add the a...
