Ableton Instrument Presets Missing in Live 9?
I just downloaded Live 9 (finally) and was surprised to find that there are few or no presets under the Ableton instruments in the browser. My Live 8 library is available under Places within the browser, but none of the presets within show up when I perform a search. How do people get around this wi...

Re: Transfer music files from iPad to MBP
So snarky, Beats! I think you're missing my point. $2.08 isn't a lot, but when you add subscriptions to Netflix, Spotify, Amazon Prime, iCloud or similar services, etc. etc. it starts getting expensive. You know what it's like living in the Bay Area - we don't all have a lot of extra cash lying arou...

Re: Transfer music files from iPad to MBP
Yes, the files are in iTunes on the iPad, not saved as data files. So annoying. All of these monthly or yearly subscriptions sound affordable, until you realize that you have a bajillion of them.beats me wrote:Music on what? The iPod app/iTunes library?
Thanks for the reply, though.

Transfer music files from iPad to MBP
Does anyone know how to transfer music files from an iPad2 to a MBP? I'm on the latest OS for both and just can't seem to figure it out. Apple has always made this unnecessarily difficult, unless I just don't know the trick. Can anyone here help? There's music on that iPad that I just don't have any...

Re: Getting 100% wet from Send effects?
I'm not in front of Live right now so can't test this, and it may be way off, but.... Could you midi map the rotary knob you're using for the send control to the volume fader as well, and then adjust the min/max values so they're inverted for the volume fader, meaning that as you increase the send y...

That's a really good, obvious answer that I hadn't thought of. Thanks!

Looking for honest software upgrade advice
Been using version 8 since it came out. I really want to upgrade, but my music computer is an early 2008 iMac, 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM running os x 10.10.3. I'm not replacing this machine anytime soon, even though I know that seven years in the computer world is forever. Wi...

Company Review: Focusrite - A+
I just wanted to share the amazing customer service experience I received today from Focusrite. I purchased a new interface and was having a hard time with routing with the additional software. Through their chat service my issue was resolved within 30 minutes, and I never would have found the solut...

Could this issue also be related to choke settings?

You're correct - I didn't even notice that part. My bad. Just keep in mind that you don't have to do it this way. But you could.

Re: Should I assign each piece of gear it's own MIDI channel?
Those aren't channels - they represent notes and control change info. I think you could set up the ACP in Live so that it sends/receives info on all channels. Then, set your external gear up to receive send on specific channels. That way you can use the APC to control everything.

Re: Turntable Repair in the San Francisco Bay Area?
Thanks, Beats. I actually found a place in Alameda called Champlifier that is willing to take a look. Not sure they'll be able to help, but it's the best lead I've found so far. A quick note about Guitar Center: I have an older Ibanez acoustic-electric. The electronics controls - volume, tuner, eq, ...

Re: Should I assign each piece of gear it's own MIDI channel?
That's what I do, and I even assign different parts on one device to different channels: Moog Sub Phatty on channel 1, Korg ESX keyboard parts on channels 3 and 4, and Korg EXS drum parts on channel 10. Works great.
