Re: Ableton! Will Live 9 be released before year 2015?

I only use about 1/25th of all the functionality in Live as it is. I would love for it to be more tightly focused on live performance and not being the end-all DAW monster. My guess is that they are developing around Windows 8. The Metro interface seems like it was custom built for Live. Possibly mu...

Re: I hate improvised music

Airto Moreira is another of those pesky improvisers:

Re: I hate improvised music

Millennial steps to innovation: 1) Create a beat pattern that sounds like something already done before...but hey, you did it from scratch so that shit is FRESH! 2) Add distortion and some random glitchy effects. Hell maybe throw a wobble in there, cause we all know thats the most refreshing sound ...

Re: I hate improvised music

I love improvised music. Love it. Saw Rasheed Ali in Portland a few years ago and he smoked it. None of us can hold Ornette Coleman or Miles Davis's jock strap. We can only sniff it from a distance. Put your computer down every now and then. Walk around, play some drums, kiss a girl (or boy if you w...

Re: Notation in Live 9?

Those who say that notation is somehow an inferior musical communication tool are clueless. Educate yourselfs. Some day you should take a glance at one of the scores of Gyorgy Ligeti or Schoenberg. Yes, music has been made easier to produce by tools like Ableton. Kind of makes you wonder how the gr...

I don't care what anybody says, that's really cool. No need to flash your diatonic syntaxual brilliance. McFarrin is a master at what he does and he speaks to people.

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?

Improved multi-track Looper. Need a 'dump loop to clip' button that I can assign to midi. In fact, take Looper out of the effects/instrument area and put into clip slot with all envelope/clip controls (sample offset, etc). Imagine looping into dummy clips. Yum.

Re: MY ULTRALITE JUST WENT NUCKING FUTS!

Website is speaking of the the fact that outs 11-12 had to be chosen in the pulldown on the Live master track as the mains on the Ultralite. But a taste of the weirdness that is this machine.

Re: MY ULTRALITE JUST WENT NUCKING FUTS!

Just to post a report on my Ultrapoop. I have done the Teedub fix (thanks for the effort though) and my Utralite is still wiggin. Still unstable. To Ebay with her. I have done EVERYTHING. I will never get near a firewire interface again and NEVER near MOTU on my Windows setup. Looking at the Edirol/...

I ride a Palmer Carbon Circle 2 in the mighty Wasatch Mountains of Utah. We had a mid-March stretch last year that dumped 26 feet in 16 days. Can't wait for this season.

Re: MY ULTRALITE JUST WENT NUCKING FUTS!

Yeah, TD, good work. FYI: 1) I have the fabled TI chipset and the fabled audio rice crispies. I have knowlege of many people who have the 'safe' chipset with the same issues, so I don't know how critical it really is. 2) I have been able to reduce the instances of the flip-outs by killing (disabling...

Re: MY ULTRALITE JUST WENT NUCKING FUTS!

Teedub, I'm gonna give that a whack as a last resort. Never thought of it. I will point out that I have had moments with the Ultrafart when it suckered me into thinkig I had it done. The next thing I know, I'm in front of 200 people pushing my 'panic' button, reverting my setup to all-non-computer a...

Re: How to get this sound: Young Punks

Well, in honor of your 1000th post (I'm well behind you), I'll give it a whack. I likey the song. It sounds like a steep crossfade trick where you faid into silence with a fader flip at the very begining of each horn section sample. You could slice the sample to a new drum rack kit and play those sa...
