I have a dream job creating cg special fx for movies. I specialize in particle effects like smoke, debris, explosions, fire, leaves, etc. If you've ever seen Men In Black II, I made Frank the pug's cigar smoke... Always thought I should have been able to write-off my old smoking habit as a tax deduc...

Like others have said.... practice practice practice. One thing i would add though is to do at least one of those practice runs in front of a couple friends. I find that if I can perform satisfactorily in front of a couple friends, then a room full of strangers is no problem. Also, when performing t...

apparently they're pretty "bling", but in real life it's not that useful, since there's no tactile feedback at all. I wonder how many key "hits" it can read at once. It would be awesome if someone coded an interface editor. Then you could project your own controller and play it....

The new features of Live look nice to me but IMO don't seem to me to warrant a new version number (or at least don't warrant the front-page hype " the team's biggest development effort since the initial release of Live in 2001")... I mean they mostly seem like work-flow/management stuff, o...

I think Sasha first coined the phrase "IDM" when he was asked by Mixmag in 2001 how he would classify his productions. He just said "Intelligent" but I think the journalist went away with that and added the DM. Quite a smart way for Sasha to both invent a genre and perfectly des...

hmmm... While visiting Mexico's yucatan peninsula we fell for their "michelada"... a tasty beer concoction in a salt-rimmed glass. I included a recipe (off the net) at the end of my post. Food wise... My wife introduced me to these chocolate covered wafers from Australia, "Tim-tams&qu...

Hey Jason, I went to the urbantorque website listed in your profile but I can't seem to find any prices for downloads or see anything that looks like a point of transaction... I clicked on the eshop link but still didn't find anything. I didn't actually sign up as a member of your site so maybe that...

Could you load your sample into Simpler, and then use a simple midi loop to repeatedly trigger it at the beginning of each bar?

maybe?
I'm just guessing though as I haven't ordered my upgrade yet!
good luck,

Bump as well but mostly to know what Fax's problems with the card were. I bought the IO to use for a show but because of strange non-repeatable pops that happened in Live when the card was plugged in, I was unable to use it for the show. Anyway... very curious to know Fax's problems... if there is a...
