I would choose live over pro tools any day of the week for tracking, editing and mixing. Sound quality really depends on the hardware you are using with it and as for plugins, you can use a wrapper for those rtas plugins. I would say firewire by far...check out the lacie D2 Extreme 250GB external harddrive.....it has firewire and usb on it, so have some options

unless you work for a music dealer, that deals with NI.....cause then komplete 4 is dirt cheap
