Gear Recommendation: Foot Controller
Hello! I mentioned this in another thread but I"m back to this forum after a hiatus! Glad to see people are still posting. I picked up a re-amp box recently and have been having lots of enjoyment in using Ableton's effects and plugins for guitar processing instead of pedals. It's definitely sav...

Gear Recommendation: Keyboard
Hey all! Spent a long time away from the forum, but I'm hoping things are still pretty active here! Until now, I've been working with a 3-octave microKey from Koirg as my main keyboard. Connection issues aside, I've actually really enjoyed everything about it from the form-factor to the key size and...

Can I Use Midi Keyboard to Input Step Sequencer Notes?
Hey everyone! Just received a Push 2 and I'm really liking it so far. There's a way in which I'm trying to use the melodic step sequencer, and it doesn't seem to be working, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried something similar. I personally still prefer using a standard MIDI keyboard to Pu...

Lusine Vocal Production Techniques
Hey guys! I've been really into this artist Lusine recently and one of his most notable sounds is his vocal processing he does. It's this really flange-y whispy sound, but I can't reproduce it for the life of me. I'll pose links to a few examples below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EANhI-cehFY ht...

Best Way to Flatten Return Tracks
Hey guys! Haven't been on the forums for a while, but I was hoping someone could share their insight with something I'm struggling with. I've been using send and returns more and more with Ableton. I use a few hardware effects now and I'll normally just slap an external audio effect on the return so...

Re: Drum machine and synth suggestion
I just received the Analog Four recently and I would highly recommend it. It's so versatile, and you'll be able to achieve basically any sound you want out of it. The compatibility with Overbridge is also phenomenal (when it's working) and saves you a whole bunch of audio cables and inputs/outputs. ...

Re: Snare reverb
The main method I would to use to get that slapped reverb sound would be to tweak the predelay and make it much longer. You can do this in most reverb units, including Ableton's.
Hope this helps!

Elektron Analog Four Questions
Hey guys! So I just recently purchased an Elektron Analog Four and, as impressed as I am with the synth, it's left me pretty confused in a lot of areas.
If anyone's had much experience with this synth, please let me know because I'd love to bounce some questions off of you.
Thanks!

Re: How Can I Acheive This Synth Sound?
Sounds similar to hammond organ. Organ sound with fast cutoff envelope. 4 sine wave, fast decay. Oscillators frequent ratios are arranged like 0.5, 1, 1.5, 3 (You can do whatever variation and shift them a tiny bit to get natural sound) http://picosong.com/Bysa/ You could do it with decaying operat...

How Can I Acheive This Synth Sound?
Hey guys, basic synth question. There's a really common synth sound I keep hearing lately that I haven't quite been able to recreate myself. https://youtu.be/DgLasn669lA The sound starts at around 2:18. Like I said, I've just never been able to get this sound, and I really like it, o I'd love some p...

Minilogue or Prophet 08 or Elektron
Hey guys, so I'm looking at buying a new piece of music gear and I could use some input. Essentially, I can't choose between the Korg Minilogue, the Prophet 08, and some Elektron product. These are obviously completely different so I'll explain my reasoning for all of them. I'm primarily looking for...

Look into enabling legato. It means that the clips won't necessarily start at the beginning but where the last clip left off.

Re: Compression as Distortion?
If you own a Max license you can always start out with devices that exist (or go 30 days with the demo). i thought if i owned Live Suite that I own Max too no? Max For Live , not Max . Max is installed as is, but to develop yourself or make certain kinds of changes to existing devices you need a fu...

Compression as Distortion?
So I often hear people refer to musicians like Clark and Justice's music as showing ridiculous amounts of compression, specifically on their basses. What confuses me though, is that people often attribute a certain sound to compression when all I hear is distortion, although it seems to sound like v...
