Re: OT: NYC I love you but I may/(may not?) need a break.

I'm a native New Yorker who's moved to a bunch of spots for varying amounts of time over the past 10 years or so. Seattle, LA, Boston - and have spent months at a time road tripping through all the lower 48 states in some way or another. Firstly, the US has some seriously amazing scenery to see and ...

Re: Maschine - A Few Months Later - How Is It?

Man, I wish I knew someone here in NYC so I could fiddle. Was hoping to get some hands on time at NAMM but it didn't happen. there's one setup decently at the Guitar Centers on both Flatbush Ave and in Manhattan. both have their own little kiosk type thing with a dedicated lappy, Maschine and headp...

Re: Wow, Just experienced an earthquake!

i experienced a 6.8 when i lived in Seattle back in 2001, fucker shook me right out of bed. and being from NY, i didn't really know what to do and confused it with a tornado and jumped into the damn bedroom closet, and of course a ton of shit fell on my head. crazy to look outside and see the street...

Re: Black background with white text for website?

white on black can be tougher on the eyes, depends on how its used and who's reading it. often you can find a happy medium somewhere in the middle though. shades of grey can be much less harsh and can open up more opportunities for design. i recently redid my consulting site and went from white to d...

Mr. Henke's Generative Ambient Live Set...

Does this mean we'll be able to drop an instance of operator, sampler, saturator or whatever into a Max patch? i think the other way around actually. i'm guessing Max-ish tools for creating native Ableton devices. Both ways round would be nice (as the actress said to the bishop) yeah it would. but ...

It takes two to three minutes to build a viable step sequencer in Max. i guess i think more of things i can actually here; synths, effects etc. i have plenty of sequencer already. i'm not hating on Max, like i said i know it's powerful and can do wild stuff. i think it would get a lot of use from L...

y'all work with computers... what looks so terrifying about Max? skinned percussion resonance modes are scary. analogue filter emulations in DSP are scary. not terrifying. just not musical. takes a lot of patching before you have a musically useful device laid out before you. removes you from the r...
