Re: Bluetooth keypad conflict w/ orig. keypad in keymapping?
At least in Windows There is never distinction Between HID's (Aiming for shortest answer, at least it's a haiku) Long explanation: Human Interface Devices are typically not recognized as unique. Your multiple keyboards send identical keystrokes, it's not like MIDI where you can operate on different ...

Re: Problem recording through ASIO and playing back through MME
Odd. What sample rate are you using? (If you are able to play the waveform without distortion through Ableton, it sounds like the issue may be more related to the X-Fi and Onboard HD Audio having an inability to play it back, and less likely to be a problem with the M-Audio card, per se.) That mp3 c...

Do you have Live open in the background when you're playing back the exported file?

Re: FW 800 cardbus better than onboard FW 400?
A straight-up upgrade to FW-800 will not improve your speeds; you are limited by the Firestudio which is only firewire 400. If anything, you might make things worse. A cardbus adapter might improve your speeds if it's using a better firewire chipset than the one currently built into your laptop. You...

Re: Issue with getting Midi playback using ASIO drivers
You are correct, sir!
The ASIO drivers for your Novation only support sending audio through the Xio itself. (Line out, headphone jacks, line in, etc.)
Sadly, you'll probably need to find a pair of monitors or headphones.

Re: Issue with getting Midi playback using ASIO drivers
I'm having this exact same problem. I can see the audio signal in the master send and individual send, but I can't hear it through the computer's speakers. However, If I switch to the MME/Direct X driver, I get audio as well as the visual indicator of a signal in the master and individual sends. Pr...

Re: Annoying clicks when turning on/off FX
Instead of toggling the on/off button for the VST effect itself, try grouping your VST effect into two parallel chains with Utility devices as follows: Chain 1: VST Effect - Utility Chain 2: Utility Map the Gain on each Utility to your midi button, and set the ranges in midi map mode as follows: Uti...

Re: Arming global rec and playing with one keyboard command?
(Make sure to turn off Computer MIDI Keyboard under Options first)
Go into Keyboard Map mode, and you can assign Global Record and Play to the same key.
(I'd assign it to "R" )
Rock on,

Re: Need a laptop... but not a Mactop...
I usually build my own PC's too. I snagged a Lenovo ThinkPad T61p a little over a year ago, and I've been very happy with it. Very solid build, shock-mounted hard drive, spill-resistant keyboard, discrete graphics, firewire. Some ThinkPad models are still available with XP downgrades FTW. Do some di...

Re: counting in live loop recording
Go to Options > Preferences and pick the Record/Warp/Launch tab. There's a Count-In box, which can be set to 0,1,2, or 4 bars. If you're recording into slots in Session View [during playback], recording will start/stop in time with your Global Quantize setting. (Next to the master transport controls...

Re: How do I create a pitch bend on an audio track using a midi
Some sample events, including transpose, cannot be midi-mapped very well, if at all. Things like transpose, loop set/length, are midi mappable, but are global controls, and will only affect the clip that you have highlighted! A few workarounds are possible: You can automate Transposition with a clip...

Re: Sound Cards and Wireless never work together (WHY!!!??)
Yah, bummer. Sometimes wireless cards, and often video cards, cause audio dropouts. Back In The Day, you would see similar problems with certain (cheaper) modems, called winmodems, which were notoriously processor-intensive. These dropouts are usually the result of poor driver programming, and a dev...

Re: [Tip] Sending MIDI/Audio over lan using Reastream
Thanks for resurrecting my old thread! Sorry, I haven't been hanging in the Ableton forums much lately... I think using Reastream over a WAN would induce way too much latency. (Unless you're using a point-to-point T1) It's reasonable to expect 80ms of latency on a good day using a household broadban...

Stupid American; why would you assume the "top half" meant Eurasia/Africa/Australia? To the rest of the world, North/South America is on the "top half"! Obviously he meant that he'd trim off the continents of warmongering capitalist pigs!
