Thanks for the advice guys. I did not yet install ASIO4All on this temp laptop but I will try it out and see if it makes a difference. I did notice that even on my six year old Windows desktop (upgraded to 7 over the years) I have a better soundcard than in this Dell and it had ASIO drivers already....
