Re: Why does Ableton keep adding new features that no one wants?
All I know is Ableton needs to work on multi-touch support, groups within groups, tabbed projects, better GUI, more window options, and an overall more stable program. Also, if 10 cost an arm and a leg I will ditch it. I'm waiting for Bitwig to add clip fades then I will probably jump ship anyway un...

Now that I think of it I would like a different version of the Push, one that negates the file browesr section altogether and acts more like a keyboard but in the Push layout, like a launchpad with Push pads. Of course this would need to cost a lot less as well!

Re: Freeze a track which peaks at more than 0dB
Couldnt you just put a glue compressor on the offending channel, with high threshold and 0 db of make-up gain? It would knock down your peaks to -.5db without any distortion.

Re: Live 9.7-another update for Simpler, but what about Sampler?
i disagree the push 2 makes the workflow in ableton a breeze you must have been using it wrong and with the changes in 9.7 even more so the push 2 is the best controller on the market worth every penny If I were to start a track just using the Push, creating clips using mostly stock library devices...

Re: Live 9.7-another update for Simpler, but what about Sampler?
I still dont get all the hooplah for the Push. I owned one for a bout 6 months and realized it just slowed me down and I would have to completely customize my library to get access to everything. Its kind of ironic that software like Ableton which is suppose to foster different workflows would make...

Re: A sick PC for CPU heavy serum bangers
For $3k you should try and get more ram though, for storage I dont think you want to use a solid state drive for samples as writing to them kills them faster, unless I'm behind on the tech. Besides, going with a fast HDD would save you a lot of money which you could use for other stuff. Just my .02...

Re: A sick PC for CPU heavy serum bangers
The max memory depends on the board, you have to check that Asus board to see what that is, and usually Asus hasa recommended list for memory. What I meant was using 2 or more drives but only using a SSD for your OS and programs, with an HDD for sample storage. For a HDD use a 10k rpm drive with hig...

Re: A sick PC for CPU heavy serum bangers
For home studio build a tower, for portable go for a Surface Pro 3. I bought an ADK laptop 4 years ago and while it still kicks ass I would rather have 2 rigs since the fan noise can be heard through my mic. With a tower you can shove it out of the way and have more desk space. For a portable Dj rig...

Re: Push and surface pro 4?
You might want to consider grabbing a used Surface Pro 3 with I5 8gig ram. Robin did a test comparing the Pro 4 to the Pro 3 and there wasnt much of a gain there, plus the Pro 3 doesnt have many of the audio driver issues that the 4 has. You can grab a used Pro 3 for around $600-$800 which is much c...

I used to do the 128's thing but found it uses too many resources and hard drive space when doing save all. Not really worth it IMO!

Weird master tuning issue.
I have a weird problem where an entire project's tuning seems to be a few semitones lower than it should be. I'm not sure what's causing this. It will happen in the middle of working on the project, but go away if I restart Ableton. I'm too afraid to save the project for fear it will be permanent. I...

Re: Writer's Block & Breakdowns. This is Normal
Thanks for writing this, I go through this stuff all too often. I just recently deleted all of my old projects and wiped out my SC. I realized how awful my stuff sounded, and just wasn't happy with the direction I was going. Hopefully starting fresh will bring back my confidence and I will start hav...

Re: What can we expect with X?
I really really hope they add multi-touch support like Bitwig. Imagine how much faster the Surface Pro's will get as time goes on. Picture sitting in bed using a touchscreen to make a track, then you can dock it for use of a mouse and larger screen for precise editing and arrangement. No more fiddly...
