Montrealbreaks is outta here!!!

Hey all. I've been thinking of changing my handle for a while - I don't live in Montreal right now (I'm in Ottawa for the time being). But, I wanted to reach 1000 posts. So, here it is, my 1000th, and I have to registered a new name;

M. Bréqs

I have really enjoyed my time here, and a few ...

ABES, READ THIS PLEASE! How to implement what we request!

Hi,

Your solution would mean something more: the "master" clip you're talking about would need to be warped in order to let Live know about its groove, but at the same time it would need to play unwarped no ?

Best,
amo

Yes, that's exactly what I meant, you said it better than I did... I must ...

Sounds like fun where do I sign up!?

I wish I knew more, the kids in my town need to be checkin out Reason, making beats, and stayin' out of trouble. I've always thought Reason and a room full of donated computers could make a difference in Oakland.

Oops sorry, rambled off topic (it's the ...

Do you do this for guys, too?

Seriously, looks like a cool agenda.

Ha!

I have a commited cohabiting girlfriend, so there's no hanky-panky going on, it's just that she's the first person to ever ask me for a "lesson". I find some males have a harder time going to other men asking for ...

First off, thanks for the honest remarks. I am never insulted by constructive criticism. Saying "your track f*cking sucks ass" doesn't help anybody, but looking at the timing and saying "hey dude, that's not funky" certainly does help! Thanks!

Yeah, the beats were tight, but there were other ...

I have to teach a N00B. Advice?

Hey all - I will be giving lessons on "how to make electronic music" to a total N00B in two weeks. I figure I can get this person started plopping out little midi ditties after about 30 hours... I might be out to lunch on this, but hopefully, with practice at home, I will give her enough knowledge ...

I'm totally new at producing and i am having a really hard time implementing (sample)hits. I can't get "tsst tsst tsst" sound(and it's variations) and other stuff on to my productions.

Any more tips???

Can't expect live to be perfect. NO sequencer is.
But does that mean we shouldn't try to strive for perfection?

I mean, if there's some way that the sequencer can be improved, why not ask for it?

Re: ..

Well as EARLGREY rightly describes, you may have some hard quantized beats as a base but things on top are better played "live" to keep it groovy.

Rock it by herbie Hancock : I 'm sure Mr Hancock's riff on the keyboard was NOT quantized, same for the scratching. At the same time it is very ...

Phatmatiks pretty tight IMO

However, I thought it was crashing Live but I think the problem child is Live 5.02

I like how it slices to a grid (in 16th, 8th) etc - I prefer to work with blocks instead of slices

It sounds really good - however, the filters sound pretty crappy IMO and the LFO's ...
