Re: Starting off without a tempo?
Another possibility to make live follow your tempo is to use the looper plugin at the beginning. Live can determine the sequencers tempo from the first loop recorded into the looper. Being that I don't use the Looper for much, this was awesome to learn! I think this is an awesome way to initiate yo...

Re: Starting off without a tempo?
After you record the first clip, what steps do you follow to wind up with one (or possibly more) cropped loops?
I seem to be doing something wrong, it would be very helpful to hear more about the procedure(s) you follow.

Starting off without a tempo?
Hi all, Hoping you might have some advice on how best to record looping instruments into Session view, without specifying a tempo in advance. (I'm new to Live, so apologies if this is too simple a question.) I'd like to start by recording one instrument (again, no tempo specified) and after some tim...

Unplug laptop from USB interface, Live crashes.
Hi all, I'm running Live on a Win7 64bit laptop, connected via USB to my interface/mixer. If I unplug the USB interface with Live running, Live crashes. So I now quit Live, unplug USB, and then relaunch Live. Is that to be expected? Also, when I switch from connected-to-USB use over to not-connected...

Re: Live Suite Trial -- getting started with drums?
Hey, awesome, thanks -- so here's what I managed: 1) I downloaded the "GM (General Midi) Format Only" collection from http://www.groovemonkee.com/en/free-midi 2) I dragged one of those MIDI files into Live 3) I dragged a Drum Rack/Kit onto the same clip And now I hear something, so thanks ...

Re: Live Suite Trial -- getting started with drums?
Sorry, not following -- double-clicking what exactly was helpful for you? Generally speaking: should I NOT be looking for built-in rhythms (even such as simple standard "rock" beats)? eg, is the expectation that I author all the drum parts myself? I had been expecting I could just pop arou...

Re: Live Suite Trial -- getting started with drums?
Just to clarify: meaning samples that come with Live Suite Trial -- or do you mean separately acquired samples?ttilberg wrote:So, let's say you have a folder of samples right?
(This is the first time I've tried working with a DAW, so I'm starting from scratch, square one...)
Thanks again!

Re: Live Suite Trial -- getting started with drums?
fwiw, I was thinking I could flip through a bunch of sample rhythms to see if they inspired any audio -- kind of as a more interesting metronome. I found Library/Clips/Drums -- but there were only about 20 items in there, so that doesn't seem like enough for what I'm thinking, right? I also see Libr...

Live Suite Trial -- getting started with drums?
Hi all, sorry to be asking such a basic question I'm getting started with Live Suite Trial, and I've at least managed to record simple audio and MIDI. But I can't quite seem to figure out how to get started with drums. Should I expect to find sample patterns in the Live Suite Trial, which I just dra...

Re: Question about syncing audio to video
My understanding is some editors can automatically align video to separately-recorded audio by comparing the audio captured by the camera's mic (eg, the crummy audio in the source video) -- and automatically align/sync it with the properly recorded audio. If I wind up having to use the "clap&qu...

Re: Question about syncing audio to video
Bump. (sorry!) Is this something Live can do? For example, if I shoot video of somebody playing, and use the camera's built-in mic to capture crummy audio into the video -- and I also record the same audio into Live from a mixer... Can I then import that video (with crummy audio) into Live and have ...

Re: Have "Audio From" default to my choice?
I gather this is also true for outputs?
(It's a bit annoying to have to set my inputs and outputs each time I open Live.)

Question about syncing audio to video
Hi all, I'm just getting started with Live, so please forgive if I'm asking a dumb question. One of my goals has been to use my video camera to shoot some simple playing at home. My camera has a Mic-In jack, and I had been planning on patching the Line-Out from my mixer into the camera. But it turns...

Re: Have "Audio From" default to my choice?
I'm still just getting started, is there some other "right" way to do it? It seems like an odd hassle to have to turn on I/O then select "Audio From" then turn I/O back off every time I add an audio track (ps: trying to keep I/O off to help with limited laptop screen). Perhaps th...

Have "Audio From" default to my choice?
Hi all,
Is there a way to have new audio default with an "Audio From" of my choosing?
Live seems to default to "1/2" but I actually have that disabled in preferences -- and I keep having to manually set "Audio From" to my preferred source.
Thanks!
