Re: Buffer Size issue Ableton Live 9 64 bit

For whatever reason I am getting some buffer issues when running a few midi tracks with Komplete 8 Ultimate devices (Ie Massive, Absynth and FM8). I have 6 tracks in total with only 1 plug in on the send/return channel A. I am getting some jitter/digi artifacts with cpu % around 30% at buffer size ...

Looper and Volumeshaper timing mess

Recording audio with Looper is not latency compensated. Any latency inducing plugins, even Live-internal ones like Limiter, make Looper record late. This should be compensated for. Easy solution: Communicate the song timing info properly to any plugins. With regard to Looper this of course means tha...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

sometimes, i have the this bad feeling that i cant trust my tool anymore ...because timing MUST be precise, its a reference after all not a feature . Definitely! I stumbled over my findings when I reloaded a project and the snare was all flabby and not as punchy as I remembered mixing it. This was ...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

just skimmed through this thread and didn't see this small info bit mentioned: When freshly loading a set, potentially some plugins require a reset to fully align the PDC. I noticed this with dynamics effect Syrah, which has variable latency due to the switchable look-a-head feature. Only double-cli...

Re: IK Multimedia + Ableton Live = Crashfest..

a short heads-up: the t-racks plugins have just been updated to v3.5 - including "Improved reliability when used with Ableton Live". can anyone with problems with ikm t-racks plugins confirm better stability?

Re: multithreaded Drum Rack

Probably not technically possible. I'm paraphrasing this, but Ableton has explained it: As long as instruments are linked by being on the same track, send, return and other routing, the stream of sound is processed by one core so that no delays occur by adding up cores, which is something the maste...

multithreaded Drum Rack

Currently a big problem in the way I am setting up my projects is that the sound generators of all the 128 pads of a drum rack are allocated to one single cpu core. This often leads to overloads on my quad core although three cores are idling along. The concept to allow any sound generator in drum r...

vst plugin parameter annoyances in 8.1.3

Hi there, this overarching topic seems to be deeply rooted and affect several functions of live 8 (this is on WinXP with vst plugins). 1. As it seems with the current 8.1.3 (and some point releases before) the undo function is screwed up. Some plugin parameter changes are not registered in the undo ...

Re: A Question About Live's Compressor

A very fast (regarding release AND attack) compressor plugin is the mpressor model from Elysia. Can be either clean or dirty. especially goes into tasty saturation when the output is cranked. In my experience it sounds good on many different sources. I also quite like the Syrah dynamic shaper from F...

Re: A Question About Live's Compressor

the "test tone" plugin from this effect pack provides a clean, tuneable sine: http://mda.smartelectronix.com/ Running static signals through a compressor tells you very little about the sound though. also, compression will always introduce harmonics to a certain degree, "analog modele...

The lack of clarity about the lack of automation PDC in the manual, however, is a documentation oversight, and I'll fix this in a manual update.
I'd rather have it the other way around. sigh..

Re: automation timing accuracy

wow, thanks for investigating this issue! i also was wondering about the tightness of automation as it can totally knock the punch and ryhtmic flow out of precise beat programming. in my preliminary research i didnt find a pattern though. good to know how it currently (mis)behaves. hopefully this ge...

Re: Sine wave from Analog synth has extra partials?

serious try :) even/odd harmonics are possibly created in the filter saturation or another stage (->analog distortion modeling). if the filter can be bypassed see if it changes anything in the spectrum.
