Re: Deep tech-house type tune
Thanks for the input. The original producers are all me, haha, apart from the reverby clap track which is a dusty ol' soul loop, and the deep vocal snippit saying "eeyyyeh". The drums are all battery one shots, and the keys and bass were all played by myself using Operator, 3rd party vst e...

Re: ORIGINAL ElectroFunk indie type music
I thought your tunes were pretty good, the compositions and sounds are great, and it sounds alot like the indieelectro stuff that gets posted on blogs like bigstereo and red threat. If it was up to me, I'd dirty up the synths a bit and use some more tech-y drums. Cool tunes dude.

Re: New track - walking home
Certainly not my kind of music - but it's mixed nicely and there were some pretty cool variations on the theme in there. The drums could use a bit more reverb and processing - maybe look at getting a vocalist in too.

Yep that's a really nice tune. I would definately classify it as electronic - doesn't matter if the source sound comes from a melodica, an oscillator or a line of code.

Re: New Tune - 'Side Effect'
I didn't think these were that bad - if you work on the EQs and mix a bit more and on some different speakers these could be pretty good. This kind of music is supposed to be repetitive, but yeah some little variations in the percussion and stuff would be a good idea. Personally, I find adding varia...

Re: All things tech house
Ressurecting the thread to comment on pitch envelopes, as earlier... I definately agree that a slow pitch envelope on lead sounds is overdone... But I think using the pitch envelope is very useful for crafting nice sounds in operator, for very low-end dubby basses and for percussive sounds. There's ...

Re: All things tech house
It's alllll about rhythm. If you want to make tech-house, I'd recommend playing back your stuff, then playing back some 12"s and paying attention to the rhythm and groove. As long as your stuff has a deep groove under all the hard hitting, freaky sounds, then you're 90% there. Also, make sure t...

i am soley talking about when i DJ mp3s that i havn't altered. alot of them are different dB and just different qualities.....i was thinking something on the master channel would even everything out. i understand that if i am producing i need to do my best to get the sound i want by solid mixing an...

I used to always put a Waves L2 on my master channel for DJing... the benefits are that mixing from one track to another is easier, as the levels get evened out. Also, obviously, it means you never clip. And yeah, if you're playing some older tunes, they will sound a bit louder and fatter. But... yo...

Of course it came from Italy. Italo House was a huge influence on Detroit. By the way; there is A TON of money just waiting to be made by the next band bold enough to dig through the ranks of some of those Italo records and piece together their own sound. Literally millions... Ladytron are doing ok...

yep yep - gotta agree with the above. DJing with Live means that you don't have to manually beatmatch, though of course you do still have to sometimes warp on the fly... But yeah, it's alot of fun and you can do crazy, and really nice mixes that just aren't possible on turntables... like running an ...

OT: Soundsystem opinions
I'm doing the Xmas party for a friend's work. It shouldn't be too lame as they don't want cheesy party tunes, but rather funk and electro, which is always a nice mix :) However, the office wants me to sort out the soundsystem, though they'll be paying for it. So I've got to present them for some opt...
