Never did find a solution but i found over time that i preferred my own mappings anyway and it seemed quite easy to lose the automatic mappings (though can't remember how now - and not at home).
Loving Ableton though !!

In midi map mode there are no mappings displayed on the left hand side of the screen. I agree you would expect them to be there. Indeed if I add the new map its shows there but the default map that seems to take place on selection of the Oxygenv2 doesn't seem to display there. I guess its this ...

I have an M-Audio Oxygenv2 keyboard/controller and as such have selected the midi map for this keybard in Ableton 6. The problem is that the upper right knob on the controller is mapped not only to whatever is in effect rack but also the master volume, making it unusable, I have to resort to a mouse ...
