Never did find a solution but i found over time that i preferred my own mappings anyway and it seemed quite easy to lose the automatic mappings (though can't remember how now - and not at home).
Loving Ableton though !!

I have an M-Audio Oxygenv2 keyboard/controller and as such have selected the midi map for this keybard in Ableton 6. The problem is that the upper right knob on the controller is mapped not only to whatever is in effect rack but also the master volume, making it unusable, I have to resort to a mouse ...
