If you're the type of person who is trying to record a song, and you have very specific ideas going into it about how that song will be arranged, you likely won't use Session view. I basically use Ableton as a multi-track recording studio, where I can sample any instruments that I don't own a real v...

For those of you mixing your tracks in a program other than Ableton, here's my big question - when rendering each track in ableton, do you: 1. Render them at the level you currently have them mixed at (some tracks more soft than others) OR 2. Normalize each track, so that every instrument is maxed o...

I finally got a chance to test out what you were telling me here. This is PERFECT! Exactly what I wanted. Thanks so much! This let's me control my drums much more tightly than using a single midi track for Impulse. Thanks for help, nebulae!

www.vtc.com is a computer software training site that has some FANTASTIC Ableton tutorials. For $30 you can watch all the tuturials, or for free, you get the first 3 chapters, which covers quite a bit. I went ahead and dropped the $30. It's bringing me up to speed on everything Ableton in a real hur...

Route Midi Notes to Other Channels?

Is it possible to route particular midi notes to other channels? I basically want to create a drum pattern in one channel, but individually route the notes to other channels... that would allow me to independently mix and add effect to each piece of the drum kit... I could compress the kick, EQ the ...

I have both Logic Express 7 and Ableton... I've decided to stick with Ableton (it fits my needs more). So I'm selling Logic Express 7 for the low, low price of $150 USD. Apple allows a one-time license transfer, so here's a registerable (if that's a word) Logic Express for half price. But wait, ther...

Oh, sure, sure... tease me with screenshots and then break my heart with THIS: (Note: there is no Mac version yet, but I was told a brand new Mac OS X machine is on its way to our offices...) I could really, REALLY use a nice EQ bundle for my intel iMac. I've found a few EQ plugins that I don't mind...

Your only problem may be with your VSTs... A whole bunch of PC VSTs aren't available on Mac, and even some that are available don't work with Ableton (or Logic, for that matter). I limit myself mostly to AU plugins... and I've managed to find substitutes for just about everything. I'm still looking ...

Dude, seriously: you can do ANYthing with REason. Here's something you can't do with Reason... use it without any external device. I don't own anything but a E-MU 0404 interface to get live audio in... everything else is sequenced in Ableton using the pencil tool. I downloaded a Reason demo one day...

Two vital questions to add: Keeping the "No Return On Opened Software" policy in mind, how willing are you to lie about a software's features to sell it? (hint: more is better) When presented with a piece of hardware you know absolutely nothing about, whould you: A. Fake it B. Tell the cus...

Ableton will scan for available plugins each time it loads. You probably have a VST that is crashing Ableton when it scans it. Try removing all VST plugins from the plugin folder... just dump them into a folder on your desktop, and try opening Ableton with VST enabled. It will help isolate the probl...

For $250, you can pick up a really, really hot stripper. She's gonna feel a LOT better than that Axiom 49!

Bada-BOOM!

But really, I'm hearing a lot of recommendations for the Axiom.

Yeah, great answers - thanks for all of the replies! When I'm reading about each monitor, it's like reading a wine list... "superb, with sassy overtones and a delightful finish". It sounds too much like propaganda, so I'll take your advice and see if I can test any of them at the music sto...
