Re: Got a gig....what does this mean?

Remember, if you see any green or red m&m's in the dish when you get there it means they didn't read the rider closely enough and clearly have no concern for your health, safety or spiritual well-being. Flee the scene immediately and seek legal council.

Re: Doubling guitars and avoid phase problems

In general I just don't double, it's a rock thing that I just don't go in for anymore. Personal preference. I think it sounds cooler to use stereo delay (or the old trick of panning the delay opposite the guitar) to create a stereo image if needed or more often just subtle depth. Can you describe h...

Re: Looking in to buying a new laptop, a few questions

Most audio interfaces come with their own ASIO drivers, and if it's a good interface, those drivers will be more flexible, with lower latency, than using ASIO4ALL. Also be sure and try the AISO4ALL driver with whatever usb device you end up with. Sometimes the ASIO4ALL drivers behave a bit better f...

Re: Looking in to buying a new laptop, a few questions

This little free windows app is priceless for it's ability to eliminate audio glitches with wifi enabled. Makes your PC feel like a Mac in this regard! http://www.martin-majowski.de/wlanoptimizer/ It works for me, but I'll be interested to hear how it works for others. I no longer have to disable wi...

Re: Good Audio Interface for PC

I get around 3 or 4 ms latency at 24 bits with my EMU Tracker USB, which cost me all of $150. It doesn't have midi in/out, but is otherwise a very dependable and great sounding device. Great for playing keys in real time or guitar through vst effects.

Re: Ableton Live 9 soon? thoughts?

New releases mean revenue for Ableton. How else are they going to continue getting press and making money? We'll see version 9 a lot sooner than some folks think.

Re: Audio Interface with REALLY short latency?

I use an EMU Tracker USB (2.0) on Win XP and get great latency with keyboards and live guitar w/fx. For $150 it might not be a bad option while you save up for the RME. When you get the RME, you can still use the Tracker as a standalone 2 channel phantom-powered pre-amp. Always handy! There are inse...

Re: new desktop pc recommendations?

Horsepower is so cheap these days, you don't really need to do much research. Go to Best Buy and grap an i5 or i7 machine in your price range and hit the ground running. Unless you enjoy building your own machine, I wouldn't bother spec'ing it out piece by piece. You can save money that way, but not...

The best part is when you lean into the Tranzport and ride the feedback.

Re: Logic vs Live

One feature I've heard advertised for Logic 9 is interesting to me. I read somewhere that you could record, guitar for example, on the fly with no metronome, and then later map that to a tempo pretty easily. This could be done in Live, but would require (unless I'm doing it wrong which is highly lik...

Re: Amp reivews

I now was a bit disappointed on first check, did try right now like half an hour after breakfast, haha. The rack presets are eating way too much cpu and do not sound so impressive, especially if you compare them with the GR library. Amp is quite cpu-intensive as well. I have a macbook 2Ghz and for ...

Midi clip library work-flow help needed

I've got Steven Slate drums which I love, and am making a bunch of loops in my idle time of various beats. I created a folder for these, but when I drag the midi clip to the folder it stores the whole chain. Is there a way to just store the midi? I probably won't be able to audition a clip with no v...
