Help me to achieve this sound.

Would anyone be so kind as to dissect this song for me? I'm having a hard time understanding how the 808 sounds so gritty and how he gets so diverse with the hi hats and snares. All advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Snare rolls

So i've reached a plateau...

I've been really trying to learn how to do snare rolls like this and I just can't seem to wrap my head around it.
They sound like snare rolls with the tune being changed on each snare.
I'm assuming drawing in every single snare and changing the transpose/detuning them ...

To my untrained and ignorant ears, those sound like straight up ripped samples.

Re: Sampling Hooks

Pretty much. Can you post some clips with examples (e.g. exactly where in the song is the kind of sample you are interested in? I listened to DJ Paul but I could not really discern what in particular you are talking about

Lil Ugly Mane rips a lot of the hooks from Triple 6 Mafia and other artists ...

Re: Sampling Hooks

Instrument identification/isolation and polyphonic note separation are both super easy and there are tons of ways to do them perfectly. Pretty much everyone understands the basic digital signal processing techniques required to do such simple tasks. Just throw on some filters and do some Fourier ...

Sampling Hooks

Ok, so lately, i've been listening to a lot of DJ Paul's (Three 6 Mafia) past music and I must say that I have fallen in love with his hooks and riffs. What I'm trying to figure out, is how can I sample a chorus and other elements in a song without getting sounds I don't want? For example, I want to ...
