Re: Inst. Hip-hop That Brought Tears to My Eyes (Good Tears)
So here it is. Super smooth yet funky instrumental hip-hop. Perhaps my best work yet? Without a doubt the best "sound". A lot of you have given me truly awesome feedback on past tracks, especially with regard to getting that LA style compression just right. Its taken a while to dial-in th...

Re: Inst. Hip-hop That Brought Tears to My Eyes (Good Tears)
I like it man, sounds pretty cool but also sounds like it has too much compression on it. Maybe it's just Soundcloud. I don't know if it's hiphop. When I think of hiphop, I think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKDmYiXc8sw Eitherway, it's cool and you should keep at it. Better than my crap ...

Recorded an Actual Pimp on the Street, Made a Track of It.
So, like 15 yeeeears ago I was out on the mean skreets of Ace Duece (Ann Arbor, MI) video taping weird people with some friends and we came across a self-proclaimed "true-pimp." His fur coat in the middle of July gave him some legitimacy. Anyhow, we recorded a brief conversation with him f...

Re: guess who's been secretly making inst hiphop all these years
hej pete, the main deterrent to canoe & brew is that the acutal master level of the track is to be constantly being boosted and cut. it sounds like someone is tweaking the volume knob of a hi-fi as it plays. i know the effect you're trying to reproduce pretty well, but i just think your sidecha...

Re: guess who's been secretly making inst hiphop all these years
And just to clarify a bit beyond my previous message, I am going for a heavily compressed sound on that track. Trying to do something similar to the current L.A. instrumental hip hop sound, but definitely not quite there yet.

Re: guess who's been secretly making inst hiphop all these years
on canoe and brew the compression is either ducking a little too much or my headphones are one the fritz! over-compressed? forest of the giant frogs - simple, unpretentious music, i reckon you could teach me a thing or two about not complicating chillout lowtide at dusk - curious: whats the lead sy...
