Re: The Bitwig evaluation thread

I wrote my impressions over here.

TL;DR: It’s nice and worth it if you don’t use Live yet, but there are no real reasons to switch for now. It’s very possible that Bitwig 2.0 could change that (actually I’m betting on it).

Re: Toronto?

I'm moving to Toronto on March 1st! I even made a separate post about it.

I'll live close to the High Park, BTW.

Moving to Toronto, any tips for a newcomer?

Hello all, I'm moving from São Paulo/Brazil to Toronto/Canada on March 1st and I obviously want to know where do the ableton-heads (and music-heads in general) hang out. So if you have any tips for clubs, bars, shops, studios or any other place with high level of hangoutitude, please enlighten me! W...

I had an MPC2000 and moved over to a laptop-based setup using a Trigger Finger along with Live. I have absolutely no regrets. That said, yeah, the MPC is quite awesome for a hardware sequencer/sampler. Mind you, mine was the non-XL version, which means your only storage option is SCSI drives (zip di...

Re: Multiple Hard Drives into USB HUB

hey guys i got myself a 7 port kensington powered usb 2.0 hub. is it OK to connect more than one external hard drive to the hub at a time? Well, I never could get ONE usb drive to work well on a hub (I always get random disconnections - and yes, I've tried this with PCs and Macs alike), but it seem...

Re: boring jobs

probably a topic that's been raised before but what are your boring jobs? and more importantly, what do you do to kill time? I'm a programmer and I'm really sick of it. I'm doing all I can to pay my bills as a producer, but this is extra-hard in Brazil. Really, believe me - specially when you don't...

Re: Buy Live 7 get Operator free!!!

They offered you a discount? That was nice of them, was it a good deal? Not really, specially with the US Dollar at an all-time high here in Brazil... um... Ableton is a german company I think... Yep, and the Euro exchange rate is even worse . It's quite expensive to make electronic music outside U...

Re: Buy Live 7 get Operator free!!!

I have been buying Live from Live1 and I have never gotten anything free from Ableton....I mean...what about us??? True that. I sent an email to support@ableton.com and all they offered me was a discount. Hey Abes, don't you get it? We were here from the start. We deserve Operator for free even mor...

I could live with the lack of Firewire if I had more USB ports to boot. Before you say "buy a USB hub, n00b!', let me say that hubs don't work when you're using external audio interfaces. They introduce huge latency problems, which makes them impossible to use. Hard disks also don't work too w...

Re: So....Apple=progress?

Both used and new white Mac Books will be available for years. Check out eBay, Amason, macsales.com, Newegg, or pretty much any other retailer. You will also be able to buy refurbs on the Apple site. Hell you can still buy G4 iBooks never used if you look around. Apple may have stopped producing th...

Yep, but how long will it be before they retire it too?

I really hope Apple chages its mind on the next refresh - or add more USB ports. Hubs are great for controllers, but don't work well with audio interfaces and HDs.
