Tracking down a problem plugin
I just upgraded to Live 10. On startup it crashes due to a problem plugin (works fine if I hold down Option while starting). I upgraded all my AAS, Arturia, and Native Instruments plugins to the latest versions, still crashes. How can I figure out which of my many, many plugins is the problem? MacBo...

Re: Mac system opinions, please
I'm going high-end trailing edge with a refurbished MacBook Pro 17-inch (late 2011). That was the last model with a 17-inch screen, FireWire, standard RJ-45 Ethernet jack, ExpressCard slot, and built-in CD drive, and one of the last models designed so that users could easily upgrade the RAM and hard...

configuring Livid Block as control surface with Live 9
I just added a Livid Block to my setup (64-bit Windows 7) and installed LividLive9_remotescripts.exe.
"block" and "block (Port 2)" show up in the MIDI ports, but there's no "Livid block" in the Control Surface drop-down. Should I select Ohm64?

Re: something like a Launchpad but with an editor?
I do remap things on the APC40. The knobs aren't much use without remapping.

Remapping D2 on the CMS Touch als also remaps the track 1 activation button on the APC40.TomViolenz wrote:that's why I said you should remap the D2 and put something else there instead.

Re: something like a Launchpad but with an editor?
b) you mean note D2?! You know that within Automap you can remap every pad on your Launchpad as you wish!? Live does not appear to have any way to distinguish between a D2 note-on coming from the CMD Touch and a D2 none-on coming from the APC40's track 1 activation button. In other words, I can't m...

Re: something like a Launchpad but with an editor?
keep the Launchpad and use it in User 2 Mode as a trigger for clyphx. In clyphx you can use the Midi PC action to send program change messages. I have it in user mode. The problem isn't with sending PC messages, it's with triggering the clips. For example, I have clip 27 mapped to D2. The APC40's a...

something like a Launchpad but with an editor?
I've been trying to use a CMD Touch (Launchpad clone) to send program change messages in real time but it conflicts with my APC40. I can do it with my MPD18 using its MIDI editor to avoid conflicts, but I want more pads. Are there other 8x8 or larger grid controllers with editors? The Livid Ohm RGB ...

Re: Plugins responding erratically to program change messages
This is a bug, here's what Ableton support told me: Indeed, there is a bug in live which prevents a Program change to be correctly sent, if the same MIDI port or track is being addressed by a number of MIDI tracks. Imagine you use Track A and B to send program changes (via Clips) to track C (Reaktor...

Plugins responding erratically to program change messages
I have a bunch of clips that send program changes to Reaktor to change snapshots. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. No pattern I can see to it. Any suggestions on troubleshooting? Is there some way to display the MIDI that Live is sending to Reaktor? Windows 7 64-bit, Live 9.1.8, Reaktor 5....

latency problems can be caused by an eSATA drive
I spent much of the past month trying to pin down the cause of latency issues (pops and dropouts) running Live 9 with Komplete 10 in 64-bit Windows 7 on a Dell Latitude E5420. I tried various audio interfaces, both 1394 and USB; did all the optimizations recommended by Ableton, Presonus, Focusrite, ...

Re: Poll: Should I upgrade or not?
I take it back, disabling the network adapter on the new PC did not solve the problem, just reduced it. I was unable to completely eliminate dropouts except by increasing buffers to 1024, which is no better than on the old PC.

Re: Poll: Should I upgrade or not?
I spent the last month troubleshooting latency problems (dropouts with as few as two Kontact virtual instruments if I set the buffers below 1024). Finally I bought a new computer (CyberPowerPC through Costco, same price as direct but doubles the warranty and if you're not happy you can return it to ...

Re: iconnectmidi2 & audio pass through
It's working for me with a Presonus Firestudio Mobile. In the ASIO4All configuration, I've enabled the iConnectMIDI2+ input and disabled its output, and enabled the Presonus output and disabled its input. My problem is that the 30-pin plug is loose and I keep losing communication in the middle of re...
