I'm trying to get Program Change messages into a Surface Control script, but they seem to be filtered.
They don't appear in the standard message types:
MIDI_NOTE_TYPE = 0
MIDI_CC_TYPE = 1
MIDI_PB_TYPE = 2
MIDI_SYSEX_TYPE = 3
MIDI_INVALID_TYPE = 4

and I can't monitor them using process_midi_bytes ...

I've seen some ridiculously cheap RME Fireface 400's on ebay. RME still write drivers for this, including for Apple Silicon. Thunderbolt on macs is a $30 firewire converter. This gives you everything you would want out of the ADATs on Push 3. Oh and you can set the routing for the FF400 and 800 so ...

But if every user reports bugs that are the just the way Live/Push works, it is not surprising that you're receiving "general email" as an answer.

the "bug" you're describing has nothing to do with Push. That's just the way External Instrument works.
When you mute the track, it mutes the audio from the synth, and the MIDI is still sent to your synth. This way, you can unmute and hear the notes that were already triggered in the background ...
