Re: Syncing a modular system using Ableton Live / Saffire Pro 40

Re: Looking for advice/tips on better Drum production.
agree w/ first replies- layering the snare and, to a lesser extent, the kick is key. one of the most important parts of modern music is the drums, so they need to cut through the other elements. by layering drum sounds, you are spreading the information across a broader frequency spectrum.

yeah, steely dan was becker and fagen- the rest were whomever was right for the track. even denny dias, who founded the band with them, was let go as a permanent member in the early 70s

Re: $&((@#* Basslines
drop in a drum loop or some other shit that sorta sounds good with the track. slice to midi.
now copy that midi loop into a bass synth or whathaveyou track and rearrange the parts/notes until you get something awesome.
now you are a star!

Re: Integrating Patchbay into Home Studio with Ableton ay my DAW
the nice thing about a patchbay is you can normalize things so, when nothing is plugged in, its as if the connection was "hard-wired". for instance, you can have a synth running into channel 2 on your mixer when nothing is plugged in. but if you wanted to route something else into channel ...

some 70's jazz fusion fo dat ass: mel martin's listen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUvtCSQut6c this whole album skirts the line of good vs. cheesy smooth jazz, but has enough grit (at least for me) to enjoy it. very heavy on the steal drums atmospheres featuring clive stevens - https://www.yout...

i think in this case you would do automation within the clip itself, then copy the clip and apply your different automations.

i think SF has great weather - 50-70 degrees most days of the year. i would prefer it a little hotter, but fuck snow, and fuck 90 degree humidity!
