Re: Is Live dead already?

a kazoo can't be improved.
and sometimes trying to improve a scalpel ends up as a ridiculous swiss army knife.

honestly i would be fine with oh, maybe live 6's, feature set so long as everything works fast and reliably.

What if instead you chose not to force that into the leftover hours of your shit existence in your suburban basement and actually quit your shitty job to do what makes you happy?

can't win with this one, huh? Ableton decides to fix your issue as a free update and now you want to cry about how long it's taking.

Re: is Max for Live the wrong answer to the wrong question?

I mostly agree with angstrom. I was hopeful when m4l came out that it wouldn't matter that i couldn't be bothered to learn it, because there would be so much free community developed devices available for use. This has not turned out to be the case. And while there are some great devices out there n...

oh, and i previously had a soft step one, don't get one. Works great, but the backlighting adds a weird hum no matter what you do.

Re: Light, Durable, Portable MIDI foot controllers

i have a soft step2 and love it. durable, thin, really customizable. personally i've found the pressure and directionality mostly useless, but the pads work great and the editor software allows for some really great customization. However, the best customization is only available when using a comput...

Re: Is parellel compression negatively effect with Live's PDC?

Ah, but if you use sends you can process before or after just the compressed signal however you want.

Re: Is parellel compression negatively effect with Live's PDC?

If sends are disabled on the returns, yes it will sync up.

As mentioned, the other way to do parallel compression is with an effects rack with one dry chain and one wet chain.

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

What sample rate are you using? At 88.2 I get 24 ms of latency. Hardly 'unplayable.' Also those are my settings for working on a complete track, it ensures that it scales up well as more elements are added and that i don't have to change the settings while working. However, when I am using live as a...

Re: Is parellel compression negatively effect with Live's PDC?

What do you mean by 'destructive feedback?' Live's PDC works correctly for audio, which means it will calculate and correct timing issues. Using parallel compression will not create phasing issues. However, if you are placing your compressor on a return track, make sure that all sends for that retur...

Re: New MPC can load .als-files via A2A-Converter

if you just want frozen tracks played back in chunks you can do that yourself pretty quickly. Not sure why you think that would be a good way to perform though. I mean, you might as well just record your whole set as a song and DJ it for all the flexibility it gives you. If you want to use an mpc fo...

just to be clear, i'm not advocating using the same settings as me, i'm just saying pick settings that work and don't change them.

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

I don't know about that but I think working with consistent settings start to finish is the way to go. And I also think it's best to use the highest sample rate that you can handle. Not for fidelity but for lower latency. 512 samples is obviously faster at a higher rate. Hmm, these may be good prac...
