Figured it out. I was saving my songs in the Library folder. Clearly a no no.

Also, when I click on the clip where the audio should be, the message is "sample offline"

I record a piece of audio. I save the song, and quit Ableton. Reopen Ableton, and the song... the audio file is missing. I do a "missing media" search. Ableton finds, and replaces the file. This happens every time. This wasn't always the case, so I clearly moved a folder, or set something ...

No. Just random distorted sound, without any impact on levels. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's annoying.

SOLVED

When the RK3 volume pedal isn't pressed all the way up, it interferes with the MIDI mapping in Ableton. Finally figured that one out.

Now I need to know why I'm getting random distorted sounds (the levels don't change). Anyone?

Wait.. isn't the CC4 an expression pedal? I think that thing is screwy and it thinks it's getting changed.. since it tilts up and down I figure it'd be easier to mess that thing up. Maybe try pushing it all the way down or all the way up, or even holding it there while you try to map.. Ok, I'll try...

I was told when I called NI that the Rig Control sends a unique protool and not MIDI CC's I did read on the NI board that it was possible via a MIDI cable but it require you to power the unit with an external power supply. Anyone figure this out? According to NI, Rig Kontrol sends MIDI msgs to DAWs. So I should be able to stomp on a pedal in RK and turn on/off a switch in Ableton.

Has anyone figure out how to do this yet?

Just disable the midi track in Live when you don't want to receive midi signals. The GR20 should be able to control Live midi parameters IF you enable such midi control within Live The question is... which MIDI controller do I do this with?
