Re: New Live crashes Soundtoys 5 plugs.
Do you have an iLok? The most recent update to Studio One caused all kinds of problems for people on Win 10 using an iLok. IIRC Soundtoys was one developer whose products were causing problems. The initial workaround was to set the app to Windows 8.1 Compatibility mode. There is a lot of work being ...

Re: What instrument should I learn theory on; Piano or Guitar?
I've played guitar for about five decades but I would say piano (based on OT's 'learn theory' text).
But there is no reason why one couldn't learn piano while continuing guitar. No reason at all.

Re: Anyone switch from Cubase to Ableton?
Hmmm. I absolutely love Live for sound design and mangling, Session View for quick organization of clips. I suppose it could be beat but in my book Live excels at this far beyond any other tool that I have used. Don't care much for it in Arrange View. I keep Cubase (version 8) and Sonar Platinum for...

Yes I'd like to but I don't consider myself erudite and I've been told I'm a pompous ass as well.TomViolenz wrote:You should give the Ableton Forums a tryI'd really like to find a site filled with erudite musicians who are thought provoking without being pompous.

Re: Music Blogs
Hey just wondering what music blogs do you visit? Are there any out there? I was looking a couple years back but I didn't really find anything that seemed worth the trouble. I read a lot of subjective opinions listed as nearly a biblical injunctions to 'do it this way' or you're toast. I tend to ju...

Re: The great Seattle migration (maybe)
Only in the winter though, that's the secret. Then you just head to Stevens Pass to play in the snow anyway :) I'm jealous, Bellingham is a great area to be, I'd love to live there. Having Galbraith in your backyard if nothing else, too sweet. Galbraith is literally in my backyard :) I can walk acr...

That brings back memories. Had an Odyssey back in the 70s. Can't remember what happened to it but I suspect it was a victim of a divorce.

Re: The great Seattle migration (maybe)
I live north of Seattle now (90 miles or so) but at one point I was doing a lot of consulting in Seattle and kept an apartment there. These days I hear the cost of housing in Seattle is aggravatingly high and seems to be getting worse. Traffic congestion also seems to be an issue. That said, Seattle...

Re: Help....MIDI Mapping Soft Step 2 to Looper
I just tried MIDI Mapping for the first time and was able to Map 4 looping Tracks in Ableton tracks 1 to 4 to pedals 1,2 ,3 ,4 on Softstep. The looping channels 1 thru 4 are being fed from track 5 in ableton which is audio input from my guitar. The problem is there is a musical note associated with...
