my problem was that I installed the latest version of ffdshow. but this caused problems in Live. After installing the recommended v1.2.4422 it worked.

Win 7 64bit
9.1.4 64 bit

I am not using M4L very often because of its stability

don't upgrade to 9.1.4.
There are issues with VSTs on the return tracks.

what do you mean by 'waves are saying its not supported' ?

as a side note, I run Element on Windows7 64bit.

Did you install the VST 64bit version?
Are you sure you didn't install the AU version by accident?

you have to install the 64bit version. the 32bit version can only address 4GB of your RAM. This means Live is only using 4GB of your 16GB. This is the reason why Live is overloaded.

I use fabfilter a lot. They are great plugins. If you can, go for a bundle. Check out Pro-L and Pro-MB and timeless2 too!

sounds like a known Max4Live bug. Wonder when this bug will be fixed ...
