Re: clip navigation confusion

ok, thanks. I didn't think so. I must have been confused about how it was behaving earlier. Bummer.

Re: clip navigation confusion

Thank you both for the replies but that's not what I'm looking for. I should have used "piano roll" instead of "midi editor" for less confusion. I'm looking to be able to click on an empty space within the piano roll and have the clip start playing there every time I hist the space bar... rather tha...

clip navigation confusion

If you're working with the midi editor inside the clip and using the space bar to stop and start, it will start either at the beginning of the selected clip or at a specific location chosen within the clip on the arrangement view. I've always been frustrated that when editing midi notes with the mou...

Re: Ableton trash?

Everything seems to be fine. I agree with you, with nothing in the trash I must not have deleted anything. I wish I would have paid more attention to that message though.

Ableton trash?

Live 9 with mac os 10. I accidentally deleted a file from Live's browser and can't seem to find it. A window did pop up asking "Do you really want to move the selected item to the trash?" but I confirmed it because I just woke up and am still stupid. A quick red message flashed in the bottom left fr...

Re: missing file

It wouldn't be that hard I suppose although it's far different from the original. I seem to add something or make a small change just about every time I start a new project. I will end up doing that if I can't figure this out, (waiting for a response from Ableton to see if they know what's up).

Re: missing file

originally? neither. It was either a vocal recorded directly in or a sample dragged right into arrangement view.

Re: missing file

:x lame. i have seen support@ableton.com take corrupted .als files and fix them up for people before. they helped me with a group track issue with Live 8 that way. maybe you should hit them up... I would like to think it's an issue that could be handled user level but judging by the lack of respons...

Re: missing file

I appreciate the reply.

I tried that. I can replace it inside the file manager window but I can't delete it from there because its "being used". I can't delete it otherwise within the project because it's nowhere to be found.

missing file

My default set keeps telling me there's a missing file. Through the file manager window I can see that it's an audio clip, I probably accidentally saved it to the default at some point. The problem is it's not being used anywhere. All tracks are devoid of any clips. When I locate the file in the bro...

Re: plug-in Vrs stand-alone.

I still can't figure this out. Can I use a stand-alone synth within Live without it being a plug-in?

plug-in Vrs stand-alone.

This might be dumb. Can I run a soft synth as a stand alone rather than VST and still sequence with Live? Trying to get the moog modular V to work this way.

Re: Music theory question.

I appreciate the discussion. On the creative side I have a better understanding of how people interpret things, the references derzai posted are interesting, though they seem slightly contrived (thanks for posting those). Matching a vocalists range and finger positioning for instruments are more imp...

Re: Music theory question.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. With such a large part of the explanation left open to the musician's interpretation, I think you've answered my question as well as could be answered.

Music theory question.

There's something I've never been able to understand about the Western scale system and how other systems relate to it. It's the idea of a key. To qualify as a song in the key of C major it's notes would have to fall within the C major scale. If you simply transpose everything one semitone the song ...
