Re: Master Pattern Switcher (Launchpad Sysex+x)

I followed the link, but since I´m stuck on windows that would mean the channels couldn´t be used by Live, so that would mean every switch command receiver is off limits for being played from a remote keyboard (which would be routed thru live). Direct routing may work, but at the end of the day I´m ...

Re: Master Pattern Switcher (Launchpad Sysex+x)

True, many drawbacks to that, the only benefit would be that it would get around the destination limit on Live tracks. Wouldn´t it be nice if M4L could override the output settings of the track it is sitting in? So if nothing is specified, the track settings are inherited, but if you want to send to...

Re: Master Pattern Switcher (Launchpad Sysex+x)

Thanks for the heads up, wasn´t aware of that limit. For a proof of concept, it will work, but since I got the RS-7000, sysex is a must have. I don´t necessarily need that done within Live, so to get around the channel restriction, I will see if Max (not 4L) or Bome MIDI Translator can help here. So...

Master Pattern Switcher (Launchpad Sysex+x)

M4L Noob here. I wonder if something like this can be done: I´m looking for a master device to control a variety of hardware sequencers and drum machines from a central point (I´m not an octopus). The idea is to use a launchpad pro to switch scenes/call patterns with 1 or more target devices mapped ...

Traktor and Link, what am I doing wrong?

I have Traktor and Live running on separate machines, link works as far as tempo is concerned - nice. However, I seem to be unable to get clips started in the way I want, it´s always off, not a bit, but a few quarters/bars. Most likely a little setting in Live, but I haven´t found it yet, makes me f...

Pattern based MIDI translator ?

Folks, I need your help. I have not used m4l before, but think I need to start using it to achieve the following: A light control software is controlled by receving MIDI events, I started mapping MIDI notes to activate scenes. In order to be flexbible, some scenes control light dimming, others choos...

Re: Need some advice on how to get started / what to buy

Well, I´ll be traveling a lot during the next year, so I´m in some hotel for the working week and try to make better use of the evenings than blackjack, hookers or tv. Therefore, I´d like to make my studio as mobile as possible with sacrificing as little as possible. I´m a knobs fetishist, loving my...

Re: Need some advice on how to get started / what to buy

hi ian, it´s just that I have very good experiences with rme so far, running three hammerfalls in a digital mixing setup with wordclock sync, digital outboards and whatnot - and setup is rock solid, stable, flexible. so that´s a big plus for the brand itself. often you get more than expected, ie all...

Re: Need some advice on how to get started / what to buy

about asio4all: will skip this part then :) regarding resolume, I will spend a little more on the laptop for pure gpu power, therefore buy the babyface a little later (a few weeks). until then, I have to accept latency. I guess it´s better to go with latency for a few weeks, but have a decent setup ...

Re: Need some advice on how to get started / what to buy

Oh well, after reading back and forth thru some posts I think I will do this: 1. Get a decent laptop purely for Ableton + Resolume 2. Work with asio4all until I really feel the need for babyface or others 3. Get an APC-40 (270 Euro, it´s a steal these days) 4. Get PUSH when it´s released. I think th...

Re: Need some advice on how to get started / what to buy

Thanks for your input, I´ll probably stick with RME as I´ve had no problems with them in the past. I guess the upgrade prices from the hardware-bundled versions to Suite aren´t that much of a killer anyway, since we currently have the 25% sale ongoing. With that being said, I´ll order the Suite as s...

Need some advice on how to get started / what to buy

Hi all, I´ve been using a lot of classical/vintage studio gear until now, but will be traveling a lot in the future. Therefore, I thought about using a company laptop with a second OS installation for those long nights in the hotel :). I´m pretty sure that Live 9 Suite controlled by PUSH is where I ...
