So I switched off "allow applications to take exclusive control...." on the sound control panel and that allowed other applications to play audio but now Ableton crashes when I try to open it...

I'm suddenly having the problem described here but the thing is that nothing has changed in my system (drivers etc) and everything worked fine up till now. So what's the solution then?

I can't believe how long this problem has been around while there's still no proper solution. I'm on Ableton 9 on a Mac and this has started happening making Ableton unusable. You misunderstand what's happening.
I haven't copied the project anywhere, it hasn't moved. It's always been in the same dropbox folder. All the links and correct paths to the samples are still there, the message doesn't say that they are not found, it says that they can't be loaded. I can't relink ...

I have a project which is saved in dropbox.
When I open it from a computer different from the one that created it which has ALL the files synched and available I get:

some of the media files such as samples could not be loaded

I get no option to relink the files or anything else.

I'm trying to update max for live, I downloaded and installed the latest one but Ableton keeps using the old one, what am I doing wrong? Do I need to delete the old one?

It makes no difference whatsoever, when it works it works and when it doesn't it doesn't. I've just spend 20 mins trying over and over to no avail. It was all working fine for an hour before it stopped working. It appears to be completely unreliable

Does Ableton not support MIDI CC's 96 and 97?
I have a controller with a jog wheel that uses those CC's but Ableton doesn't recognise them at all, everything else in the controller works though.

I'm trying to map an endless rotary encoder to a macro Knob but I don't always get the relative/signed bit etc... options appearing when doing so which makes it impossible to configure properly. The behaviour is very random, sometimes it appears sometimes it doesn't.
What's going on?
