As I mentioned in the starting post, I have to carry the MBP with me a lot.

I like the Massive. It replaced a lot of free VSTis I used for lead synths and it´s easy to use. But I wouldn´t buy it for the full price (EUR 199,-). For deep basses I´d also try Rob Papen´s subboombass.

Because no matter how well LIVE runs on lesser processors, you never know when LIVE might become more CPU demanding (Live 9?) or when some instruments (Diva? Tremor?) might become taxing on your processor. Buying a quad core i7 will prepare you best for whatever the future brings.

I was working on a desktop PC with Intel Core 2 Duo at 3 GHz until now and did not have any problems with the CPU (when using ableton + reason + massive). So, will 4 cores make such a huge difference? It´s not about the more cost, I just really want the device to be as small ...

I´m switching from desktop PC to MacBook Pro but I´m not sure which model is suitable for me. The two main requirements are:
a) ableton live (+reason +massive) should run as fluidly as possible
b) the MacBook should be as portable as possible, as I need to carry it with me in a backpack for ...
