Re: Question about Melodyne quality while transposing.
Yeah a fifth is a big interval, you're going to get artifacts and weirdness. You can usually go only a couple steps in Melodyne without it starting to change the sound. For harmonies it doesn't matter so much, but for a vocal lead... The other thing you can try is playing with the Formant: select al...

Re: MacBook Pro Retina or non Retina?
Despite the fact of how stupid it is that Apple chose to brand their hi-res screen, as if it's somehow special... personally the "retina screen" is so amazing in every other program other than Live... I'd say unless you are going to be working in Live most of the time, right now (before Ab...

Re: PC Netbook/Ultrabook for Ableton Live?
I came near buying a Sony Vaio Pro 13. Ultimately I found the screen res. too low, even though it's 1080p the screen doesn't look as sharp as a 1080 Zenbook or what I ended up with, a Macbook Pro.
It sure is light and small though.

Re: Getting A New Macbook. Would this work fine?
I don't care about the Retina at all. I just care if the hardware will be able to run both programs and any other software I need without hiccups. If Ableton adds that later then fine. Anybody? Although we're all waiting for Ableton to be optimized for Retina, I personally don't find it that bad to...

You can get something that looks as good for a lot less. Korea ships directly, various companies.

Re: Great Modern Dance Songs with Good Structure
I think some of Rihanna's big dance/pop hits are beautifully structured, and obviously hugely popular. Some are real EDM. There's a nice evolving change structure, while retaining lots of hooky repititious delish. Also plenty of dark minor chords to keep the shit dramatic. Where Have You Been? Diamo...

Re: Melodyne integrated into live
Yeah I'm considering getting either of Studio One because of Melodyne integration, or Logic with its Flex Pitch.
But Ableton is my DAW of choice. Sucks that it there's no decent pitch correction for it.
Does anyone use Melodyne bridge for Ableton anymore? I think it was buggy/crashy?

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue
Audio Box USB: 4.40 ms This is absolutely fine for the recording and gigging that I do. Around 10 or below is fine for me. I don't think a rMBP is a poor choice right now. Any serious multi-track recording would be done with an external interface anyway. Well, that's the thing, personally I don't d...

Re: Vocal help (autotune?)
Ha ha I read thru to the end and only then noticed how old the thread is! One recent development to add to the mix is Flex Pitch which is now part of Logic, for those on Mac. At $200 it might be a decent option, perhaps better value than Melodyne. And the purists should give it a rest. I'm sure when...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue
Thanks, Hennessey. Excuse my ignorance... is that way higher latency than what you'd want, if you were going to record with onboard audio? If so, does that mean you are hoping that Apple will come out with a fix for your new box? My new-to-me refurb mid-2012 MBP retina 15" i7 shows 3.45 input a...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue
Does anyone know if it's true that the latency is not an issue when headphones are plugged in? Can anyone who has a new Haswell late 2013 Macbook confirm this?

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue
Well here in North America at least, Apple tech support ranks very high for problem resolution. No PC maker even comes close. So yeah, I bought an Apple for the support, and will get Applecare. I've wasted a lot of time on misbehaving PC laptops, and I hate getting stuck. I sure hope my experience w...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue
Well I got tired of waiting and pulled the trigger on a refurb 15" 2012 MBP Retina 512GB ssd, 8GB ram, 2.6Ghz 17, just under $2000. Which is almost what I'd pay for the new 13" with similar config, so it's kind of an upgrade over what I was looking at anyway, what with the quad-core, bigge...

Re: Thinkpad Yoga for Live?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/731068-lenovo-thinkpad-yoga.html There's a healthy discussion on the Thinkpad Yoga, although I can't find anything pertaining to audio. I'm currently torn between Yoga 2 Pro, Thinkpad Yoga, and Macbook Pro Retina 13". The thing that is weird is that the ch...

Thinkpad Yoga for Live?
Anyone running one of these new machines with Ableton yet? I'm wondering how the Wacom digitizer pen might be for editing midi or other fine tasks. And also wondering how the onboard audio latency is. I'm also considering the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro. (lighter, but screen res. that's probably overkill) htt...
