Re: Under-the-hood optimizations in Live 10?
Interesting, this is the first I’ve heard of anyone seeing a difference compare to Live 9. You’re sure the latency was set to the same with both versions? Ha! You caught me. True. I was mixing only in L10, so the buffer was still @256samples. If I set it to 64samples I am back @42%. Doh! Okay, no d...

Re: Under-the-hood optimizations in Live 10?
As posted elsewhere in this forum, I have a different experience: Basic Code seems to be more efficient. Eg: I was working on a song in L9 (MacBook Pro, End 2013, 2,3 GHz i7, 16GB) which took something like 40-44%CPU-load. I loads longer into L10beta but once its loaded, it hits only @ 28-30%. That'...

Been playing with the beta Version over the weekend. Here's my 2c observations: - Basic Code seems to be more efficient. Re: Lush reverb in the style of Bonobo and Emancipator
Hey Thread, seems like reverb is not your only trouble-place... :) ...just some quick remarks. (1) Reducing the number of simultaneous voices/tracks is the key. Layering and layering leads to nowhere imo. Rather swap different sounds in and out, try combinations etc. This is, what live excels at. I ...

Re: Lush reverb in the style of Bonobo and Emancipator
Giving your examples a quick listen I thought that (1) the reverb is not that dark, but rather bright (though I for one like darker reverbs much better), and (2) it is used mainly on percussive instruments with a lot of high frequency content (claps, snare etc.) - while many other instruments/voices...

Re: How to do Daft Punk's: Get Lucky?
Just listened to it, that's why I chime in... it's in a real 70s vibe. Bee Gees, Pink Floyds "Another brick in the wall" etc. come to mind... anyways. A synth will probably never get you there. Instead you'd need a bass and guitar player. I mean the song is pretty pedestrian, though not ba...

Re: what is your opinion on the new envelope curves>
sorry DrTone!!....With a not limited bézier/curve/nurbs implementation is is a matter of second to get the shape like. Seconds? Dream on, my friend. While I'm totally with you that L9 curve-implementation is far from being perfect, getting good sounding curves/transitions is always a tedious matter...

Re: what is your opinion on the new envelope curves>
You should look at the volumeshaper vst (http://www.cableguys.de/volume-shaper.html). Wow. I wasn't bothered by Lives new curve options until I saw this cable-guys thing. Dang! Now I want to have it. But in reality, Lives curves are pretty useable. Making a curve "groove" always requires ...

Re: Mouse: Cursor to a timePOINT within a clip?
Thanks, silversurfer. I knew that, but don't really like it, because it (a) forces me to constantly unfold/fold tracks and (b) takes up a lot of vertical space.
Shouldn't it be possible to cmd-click (or alt-click) into a non-expanded clip, to set the cursor right there?
I find that quite basic.

Mouse: Cursor to a timePOINT within a clip?
Please forgive, if this is a terribly stupid question: Is there a simple way to click into a clip (in arrangement view) to set the cursor to that exact time (or the nearest quantisiation)? Right now, L9 behaves as follows: Whenever I click into a clip, the clip gets selected as a whole. I thought, a...

Re: Making your synths sound clean?
All producers want that world standard sound. Sorry, but that is plain wrong. Mediocre producers try to sound like other producers, but great producers sculpt their own sound. Talk about setting standards vs. obeying them. How this is achieved? Simpler than you think. Carefully listen to the inhere...

Re: Only trigger selected clips on scene launch?
Yep, it's a new feature afaik. Like it even better with muting/unmuting single notes. Eg. HiHats or shaker-hits: just select the line of notes in the midi-editor and mute/unmute the whole line.

Re: Only trigger selected clips on scene launch?
Dunno if this helps, but there is a handy clip-mute function (at least as of L9). Just press 0 (Zero) to mute/unmute a selected clip (or note within a midi clip). A muted clip won't play on scene launch until you unmute and retrigger it. Simple way to create variations of a scene/midi clip.
